Brake noise?

Brake noise?
I have this moderately high pitched rubbing noise that is proportional to the speed of my wheels spinning. It sounds like it is coming from the front. I recently put on new ceramic brake pads, but had no problems before. I really hear it when I go past a fence on the side of the road (sound waves bouncing back). It's not quite as high as metal on metal, but close. Curiously, when I would turn my wheel as when changing lanes, it would go away...then come back once I straighten out.
When I barely apply pressure to my brakes, it goes away completely which makes me think it is brake pads against rotors rubbing. I took the wheels off in my garage and inspected the calipers and pads, nothing was really loose or stood out. Took it my Midas earlier today, a really nice guy works there and he thought that my rotors looked too shiny and smooth, and that the pads might have not set in yet. He suggested "turning" my rotors, which I think might mean making them sorta rough. Other thing is, one of my front rims is a bit off-shape...which causes a slight "vibration" over 75 mph. That would tend to make sense...the rim coming in and out against the brake pad, causing rubbing. I am just surprised about how loud it is.
Happy thanksgiving BTW!

Re: Brake noise?
i always have rotors turned when changing out the pads. doing this will ensure that you have a flat rotor. if you ever notice a pulsing when you are braking it's almost always because of a warped rotor. don't know about the noise though.
as for a warped wheel you can always send it in to be repaired. these guys can also widen it if you want.

Re: Brake noise?
I have ceramic brakes on my ranger and they make a slight noise also. I did not turn my rotor and should have. You should really cut the rotors if you feel a pulsation in the brake peddle and or replacing the pads/ shoes. I guess since your ride has low miles, I guess just knocking off the glaze is all you need to do. Some pads are just noisy also.

Re: Brake noise?
My rotors are straight I think...applying slight pressure I do not feel any vibration. I'll have them "turned" tomorrow, 20 bucks a piece at Midas I think. I sure hope this is all it is.
Actually I thought about maybe getting these:
http://www.shelbystore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Z28-S7M-2300-C&CartID=1
There is 15% off coupon code as well. Still expensive..but they look great and function great as well. Now if I could just figure something out for my rear brake calipers...they look pretty plain. Brembos looks great up front.

Re: Brake noise?
Did you break your pads in properly? Sounds like the pads need some propper braking procedures done to get them wore in. How many miles do you have on you 2011? I dont think you need your rotors turned as their practically brand new.

I'd just de-glaze them with an Emory cloth.

Re: Brake noise?
The pads are about a month old. What is rotor turning for...is it to deglaze or straighten? Because, they are straight already.
Should I use sandpaper on the brake pads themselves as well? Fairly fine grit?
I'll give it a try, although the sound is more of a "tapping" or "ticking" sound...but hard to tell b/c my car is so damn air tight and sound proof...and wind is too loud with windows down.

Re: Brake noise?
Brought car to Midas. I had my front brake pads on backwards...meaning, the "angled" part of the pad needs to be on side where rotation is entering. They otherwise worked find but I guess that "angled" makes for a smoother interface. Only charged me 30 bucks...I'm happy. Live and learn. At first glance I thought the pads were the same!
