Got a knocking noise. any advice?
Put the lower control arms on, me an hector did everything right from what hector says. but yeah heres what happens
When the clutch engages i hear a knock, only 1 knock per shift, mainly does it downshifting, but it doesnt do it all the time.
any advice as to what it is? is it normal? a way to fix it? could it hurt something if the knocking still persists?

a knock like metal on metal? like the car may be bottoming out on something?
Re: Got a knocking noise. any advice?
Sounds like you might need to re-torque the lca bolts. Also, depending on the type of bushings in them, they may just be noisier than your stock ones.

Then they shouldn't really be any louder than stock. Might want to check the torque on those LCA's.

Re: Got a knocking noise. any advice?
it doesnt sound like metal sounding,
dunno if you know what this sound like but it sounds like the rear differential is hitting up underneath the car.
i highly doubt its that because it would be a much louder "knock" and i would feel the car jerk back and forth if it did that.

Have to look at it... but as Tim mentioned. They many need to be tightened and yes, they will be a bit more nosier.

Re: Got a knocking noise. any advice?
Some LCA's are just noisy also. It is not uncommon for them to make a clunking sound, at least on my bodystyle mustang.
You might skim this thread and see if it is similar to your symptoms...

Re: Got a knocking noise. any advice?
I thought JDWalton was really on to something with the orientation of the lca's but since you have the poly's (which also have a large/small side for inside/ouside orientation by the way) that may not be the issue. I had clunking issues after lowering the car and doing upper/lower lca's all at the same time and was able to adjust the upper LCA to correct the pinion angle and it's smooth now. My one-piece driveshaft also played into that and everything had to line up perfectly to get rid of the driveline slop.
hmmm? any comments on this paragraph?

Re: Got a knocking noise. any advice?
Could possibly be the pinion angle. You'd need to get some adjustable upper control arms to correct that.
By any chance did you happen to compare the lca's you put on to the ones you took off? If they are any longer/shorter than the ones you took off then the pinion angle could very well be your problem.

Re: Got a knocking noise. any advice?
If its a real light knocking noise its probably pretty normal when you change the arms. I have a slight noise when I did my lower and upper arms, same as you described, happen sometimes when shifting. There really isn't much to screw up when changing the lowers out.
The stock arms hide alot of noises coming from the 2 piece driveshaft, so when you go to a different bushing, some noises start happening.

Re: Got a knocking noise. any advice?
Dang... I just got on here and read all of this. Amanda was texting me the entire time. It almost sounded like i sold her some junk parts. I know they were good and i did have to make sure the arms were put in correctly. grease fittings facing down and the rear part of the control arms were matched to bushing orientation. More bushing sticks out on the inner part of the rear control arm. I feel dumb that I didn't catch that tab from the factory nut hitting the sway bar. DUUUUU!
One time on my car I left a bolt loose on one of my front sway bar links and that thing echo all over my dam car. I thought it was a control arm, exhaust or even the "u" joints. took a while to figure it out.
