Re: New to the forum
Who did you get your cams from? I have been off and on the idea of cams. If i keep the car and go with cams, would love your help picking some out and installing since you have done a set!

Re: New to the forum
I got them from Modular Powerhouse, when they were in Georgia. I certainly wouldn't do it again. I didn't like their customer service. Maybe that part of their business had something to do with them being bought out. Anyway, I'd be glad to help you pick some. I went with ModCamponents adjustable gears too, and that was a headache. I had to have him make me a new set of gears because the ones he sent me wouldn't degree right. Cloyes has adjustable gears out now, so if I was gonna do it again, I would prolly use those. My cams don't have much overlap, so my Naws doesn't blow straight out the mufflers, but if I had it to do over again, I would probably use a more traditional profile with a little more overlap.

Re: New to the forum
Nice car Doug!
Not trying to be a dick, but I was reading your mod list and your sig. I am curious as to how you are making 480 rwhp on a 100 shot without some highly modified cylinder heads. That would put you ~380 rwhp on motor alone. Not too many 2v cars have reached that mark.

Re: New to the forum
It's ok. Not 380 on motor. Nitrous works best when the motor is most INefficient. So I have more nitrous oriented cams along with the other things, but basically, I'm getting more than 100 horse from the 100 jets because 1.) my cams are ground to be able to get the most benefit from them, and 2.) the stock shortblock, and heads are really not that efficient. I'll see if I can find my dyno sheets. Also, I'm running kind of a risky amount of timing also.

My 2v was pushing 600rwhp on stock cams, heads, intake, no nitrous, no power adder, hell I dont even think I had a motor in there. My ride was powered by hopes and dreams.

Re: New to the forum
My point is that if I had aftermarket heads and intake, higher comp. ratio, etc. The nitrous wouldn't be helping me net such a large increase, but as it stands, my motor sucks!! so the nitrous does wonders for me. Plus I'm like four jet sizes up on the fuel side. That helped a bunch on the torque.
I also throw a little pich of pixie dust in there for good luck.
I'm thinkin I might really step it up tho, and put TWO bottles in it.

Re: New to the forum
seriously, I'd like to step it up to 150, but I've heard alot of horror stories about the powdered metal rods in these 2Vs escaping through the side of the block. Is there anywhere else around here besides Grand Prix to get my bottle filled?

Re: New to the forum
Yeah, I've heard quite a few people pick up more than the rated hp with nitrous cams. I was just curious because that is alot of power with stock heads. I have stock heads and cams and on a 125 shot I am only making 380 rwhp. Thats with a JLT intake, 75mm tb, TF plenum, and LT's and only 16* total timing. It made 475 ft/lbs also. On motor it only makes a hair over 260/295.
You can fill your bottle at Show N Go on 11th street between Mingo and Memorial. South side of the road. They only charge $3.25/lb compared to Grand Prix's $3.50/lb. Do you ever take your car to test n tune at TRP?

Re: New to the forum
That would be cool. I have not had it at the track in probably the last three years. I keep intending to go, but everytime I think about it, something else more pressing comes up. The only hamstring to my numbers is that they were done on a Mustang Dyno, and I have heard that the guy operating the dyno, at least on the Mustang brand, can change a load factor or something to inflate the numbers. It is entirely possible. I will say that my last stang was a foxand I built an 11:1 392 cube monster for it (built by me) and it made right at 500 at the wheels, and this one doesn't quite feel as strong as that one, but............. My numbers may in fact be closer to yours Tim. I would love to go to the track sometime with you guys though.
Tim, do you have a rollbar in yours? I don't, and I'm worried they'll give me the boot for not having one. IDK.
BTW Tim, your car looks pretty sweet from what I can see of it.

Re: New to the forum
I believe 11.5 or faster requires a cage. If you break that...they will still let you run the 1/8th but you have to shut er down after that.

Re: New to the forum
I'm not sure. I had an eight point in my fox, and I thought I remembered it used to be 12.99 or faster required at least a six point. It's entirely possible though, and highly probable that I'm wrong.

Nope...I was running 12.7s all day long in my 07 GT and no problems. I believe 11.5 is the number. They require a helmet for 13.99 or faster though.

Re: New to the forum
Yeah, 11.49 or faster and you need a 6 point. So far my best et/mph to date has been an 11.54 @ 118, so I'm pretty close to needing a bar. I don't really want to do it to this car though. I've got a 4 cyl fox coupe I'd much rather hack up for that.
Thanks for the compliments guys! She looks pretty good from 10 feet away, but I need to get some scratches and a couple dings fixed for it to be nice again.

BTW, Thanks for all of the compliments. I've done all of the work myself. After I win the lottery, I plan to build a new motor, and put twins on it, maybe before my 7 month old has his own kids in college.

Re: New to the forum
yeah, I was rolling up my garage door the other day, and one of the roller wheels fell out of its slide, and came down and chipped my driver side sail panel. I screamed like a little girl, and about kicked my garage door in. Now I need to get that fixed.

It's actually pretty average sounding for having cams. That's one of the reasons I wish I had just a little bit more overlap.

Re: New to the forum
Chris, you don't need to sell yours. You'll regret it. The thing I love most about my car............ITS PAID FOR.
Also, my wife reminded this morning when I told her about the cruise on the 20th, that right now we have two Mustangs. About three months before I bought my car in 02', my parents bought my younger sister a black one that was brand new as well. We are using it right now because I am doing some work to it for my parents, so it's a DD for my wife. It's not extra nice, cause my sister drove it like she stole it (don't get me started on that one) but it's still a Stang, so........................ we'll see.

I will probably keep the car I have, I would rather have money to mod then be in a car I can only afford to pay the payment! And mine is free and clear also.
But winter time, means Jeep mod time!

Re: New to the forum
I don't really have any to speak of. It's in fairly rough shape. My great grandma bought it brand new in 68' and gave it to me when she died in 97, and it's been sitting almost the whole time since then. I pulled the motor out of it to clean it up a couple of years ago, and then moved, and got married, and moved again, and had a baby and blah, blah, blah. It needs a fair anount of body work (she didn't see to well in her later years) and I need to rebuild the front end, and haven't had the money for that so..............................
maybe one of these days I'll get the old fish back together.
