Re: makes no sense
This is a complex subject, so I will hit what I see as the main points. Healthcare needs to be reformed in this country. No argument there. IMHO, cost control on what we have to first focus on. There are many good ideas on this front which I won't go into, AND THE CURRENT BILL TOTALLY IGNORES! So what does the current bill focus on? Covering 30 million more people. That's OK, but if you don't streamilne the process and cut costs, it doesn't take an Eienstien to figure out that this will cost the US an absolute fortune. A fortune that we don't have by the way....
Now all that said, we come down to the turning of our country into a socialist state. The constitution of the US states that we have the right to "Life, Liberty, and the PUSUIT of happiness". Note PERSUIT of happiness, not the right to it. Healthcare has now become a right in this country along with social security, welfare, medicaid, medicare, etc, etc. etc.
Our founding fathers never intended for our government to get into our personal lives anywhere near to this level. Socialist bastards have been slowly eroding our rights and liberty for over 100 years. They have done it so slowly that it now seems normal and we think it's OK for our government to take what we have worked for and give it to someone else. This is just the latest example. It's accellerating folks. We're screwed!

Re: makes no sense
What everyone fails to realize is the fact that this is the first domino to drop in a very long line of liberties and freedoms soon to fall to the wayside of this terrorist agenda. That's right. I said terrorist. I truly believe that history will show this bill to be the most damaging legislation ever passed. It will forever change the America we know to somthing closer to a third world government run country.
Think for a minute. Do you really think that the health insurance companies can take on the burden of the added costs. The answer is no. With the current bill the insurance companies will be bankrupt. After the insurance companies are going under there will be a one payer system run by the government. This system WILL be controlling every aspect of your life. Levying taxes on anything that potentially can be connected to your health.
Example: the food you buy at the grocery store could have additional taxes for high fat content, or anything unhealthy.
The job you do may be deemed high risk and an increase in your tax for healthcare will be enforced.
And for us who drive sports cars, your mustang GT or Shelby with high horsepower gasoline engine operated systems that can 1. Go too fast and 2. Produce harmful emissions that could increase the risk for others will now be taxed beyond comprehension or outlawed all together.
If you think I'm crazy just sit back and brainstorm a while on all of the things you enjoy that could potentially be connected to healthcare.
Hell, even how much trash you produce could potentially harm someones health by creating the need for more landfills. Girls, the hairspray you like could emit too much ozone depleting components and be outlawed. The list can go on and on. Don't be complacent and thinknit can't happen. Stand up and fight for your country and our very way of life!

Re: makes no sense
Well the thought of foods with high fat content having more tax on it dont bother me one bit. Just another incentive for me to not eat those bad foods.
I do wish all the health foods i buy weren't so dang expensive.
For some reason i think Obama has thought of this thought.
"If we give the Americans an incentive or force them to eat healthy foods it will make health insurance that much more affordable for everyone else."

Unfortunately David, I don't think you are crazy. You are spot on except that instead of the first domino, I think it is the beginning of the end. The first big domino was in 1935 with the Social Security act. This is just the final nose dive.

Re: makes no sense
All this is leading to higher taxes and more control. I would venture to say that here soon, maybe even this year, there will be a proposal of a National Sales Tax. Thats right. Everywhere you go the government will take a little more of your money. It is the only way that the government can pay for everything.

You hear all the violence thats happening to all the democrats, lots of threatening. its crazy.
a civil war looks very possible right now actually.

Re: makes no sense
I want them to flat out say "we do not care what American wants. They do not know what they want."
I really want them to come out and say it.

Actually they can pay for everything by devaluing the dollar as well. Imagine every dollar you now own worth 50 cents. Massive inflation. I'm afraid that's what is in the plans.
