Dyno Results
I was in Dallas this weekend and took the opportunity to get on the Dyno. Here are the results but I dont really know what to make of them. I do know that my car has never been treated like that before. I thought the damn supercharger was going to blow up.
For what its worth.

Re: Dyno Results
Nice numbers BUT I would get that A/F DOWN at WOT just a tad. (if it were my car)
Your Air to fuel needs to be below 11.8 at Wide Open Throttle to keep her safe. Most shoot for around 11.5 as a rule of thumb. At 11.4-11.8 Should be where your shooting for througout the RPM band.
It looks as though your hitting 12.0 in some areas......I myself would Richen up the mix and try to get a consistent A/F that sits in the 11.5ish range. No Higher than 11.8.
How does the car feel? Did they seem to think the tune was safe? Or is this the factory Whipple tune?

Re: Dyno Results
To be honest...The dyno A/F numbers dont look too bad. At the most important Upper RPM Range your very much ok. Just looks as though Your above 11.8 in mid to upper RPMs. If it was my car I would want to get it as consistant and safe as possible.
12.0 for a lot of boosted mustang owners is running on the edge. 11.5 is your a safe number most like to use. BUT if your looking for more power AND want to keep her on the safe side....generally 11.7 is a good number to shoot for.
Im no expert by any means.....Just giving you my opinion on where I would run my Daily Driver if I was boosted.
But again...I wouldnt lose sleep over this tune as it doesnt push that 12.0 number too much and it seems to taper on the rich side in the upper RPMs where the motor is most vulnerable.
Its your decision on whether you want to be "anal" hehe and perfect it for SAFE driving and reliability.

Re: Dyno Results
Kevin,
After doing a little more research I dont see your A/F being a problem. Tune looks good.
As long as your timing isnt too aggressive, Air Inlet Temps are not too high, you hitting 12.0 isnt a big deal....now if you were jumping to 12.3 at WOT I would start to worry a bit....12.5 and up... being BOOM time
Tune looks pretty good and makes great power.
You've got some beefy internals so you should be pretty safe. As you UP the boost...More heat is created....so timing must be adjusted as well as A/F to keep the motor alive. At your boost level and power level....I dont see a huge issue with a 12.0 A/F Ratio. I just wouldnt go any higher than that.

I would not be runnin almost a 12.1 at WOT if it were me, at any rpm. Id back that down a bit. If it were just your wideband saying that cruising thats obviously a different story.

For my Daily Driver...Ill keep her around 11.7 under WOT.....tapering off to 11.5 in the upper RPMs. Id be leaving HP on the table, but I would be safe.
He does have a forged bottom end and running 8.5:1 compression.
Whos tune is this Kevin?

Tune
The guys at gearheads in Arlington Tx did the tune. His name is Travis Franklin and seems to have a pretty good rep in tuning. I did some research on the shop before going but I really felt like I needed to jump on the opportunity. Every day that passed by since the engine being blown is another lost day is verifying this engine was going to hold up. I wanted some validation that this car could withstand the Dyno and produce the expected numbers.
I am growing frustrated with this process. I have an engine that has 25k miles on it that has been rebuild with forged internals, running low compression and still have people saying that the tunes appears to be off/unsafe? I am not upset with the comments and appreciate the input but at what point do I say F*CK this and go get a GT500. I know EVERYONE knows that 450 at the wheel is the safe limit for an unbuilt engine but the advice starts getting cloudy once you get past that hurdle. Why can I not get 600 RWHP on this car right now? Ok Ok I don't have supporting mods like clutch, brakes and suspension but why cants the engine do that number? Is there other engine internals that are weak? I guess my main point is at 450 RWHP every aspect of this tune should be stupid safe.

Re: Dyno Results
The car drives stock and I did accomplish some goals like getting a tune that accounted for the change in compression. We also put on the new boost pulley which didn't seem to really do anything. It feels really close to the same as the day It was installed. The good news is that I have a baseline to work off of. You have to remember that this is the very first dyno this car has ever seen so the baseline is set. I still plan to let Greg do the tune in the spring once I get my clutch ordered.

Re: Dyno Results
Your Motor is VERY safe or should be with the internals being forged. BUT Even with perfectly built and strong motors with an A/F Ratio that is off....running too hot....or Timing being way too aggressive can cause a rod to fly through the block.
Where else have you asked for tuning opinions? We arent the experts on here...just have some understanding of how an engine works and what the dangers are.
Every tuner tunes differently....some will have you going a little more agressive on the timeing and keep the A/F lower...Some the opposite...and some will balance both. Ask three different tuners where your car should be with all of those metrics...they will have 3 different answers.
You now have a dyno sheet...you have datalog numbers....and a detailed parts list of your build. I would email those results to some of the finest tuners in the country and see what they think. Get a consensus of answers and make an educated decision.
Your car is capable of 550+ RWHP with a smaller pulley and some supporting mods. A/F and timing still need to be in check. With added boost creates added heat. With added heat comes more risk.
Your tune is probably just fine, but it doesnt hurt to ask other tuners such as those at ST Motorsports, Whipple themselves, Brenspeed, Bamachips, Might post it up on S197forum.com, post it or send it to all those you think might have some expert input.
Also tell them your goals. If your wanting a monster of a motor...let them know your Mods and where you want to be and Im sure they would send a list. BUT above all else..Ask about Timing and A/F ratios that are optimum for your setup.
My 2 cents

Re: Dyno Results
Geeeeez Jarrod.
Lol
seriously, I think you said it best when you said you have a baseline now. You have to start somewhere right? I also think that with the forged internals you can safely push it up to 550-600 at the tire as long as your tune is right. Unfortunately with the FI setup it will probably be necessary to dyno tune to get it dialed in. Fear not. You'll get there.
