does anyone here float there gears (clutchless shifting), particually on the s197?
I havent heard too much on this subject with our cars,
the boyfriend has done it a handful of times with my car and has needed to do it on other peoples cars when the clutch went out, and has done it on a motorcycle
I know each gear can do it on a certain rpm, but theres more to it than that, i think. he cant explain how he knows how to do it.
I dont ever plan on doing it and risk screwing up my transmission, im just curious.

Ya it can be done but, I wouldn't want to make it a habit. It works by matching the tranny's synchronizes with the Engine RPMs. On most cars, this happens at such a low RPMs it not very efficient.
I've done it before when I lost my clutch cable and had to get the car home to fix it.
In short, it's a neat trick and something that can be used in an emergency but not practical for day to day use.

Dude Paul wtf, I double clutch mine and also use this other method, hell it works on Fast and the Furious so its got to be the best way to shift.

I shift so fast that the transmission has no time to react! LOL

Only once with the new car. I blew up (and I mean completely blew up) around 5 T-5 transmissions over the years. LOL

Sounds like yours was getting ready to do what mine did. Grinding into second and third hard to shift. Did you put your stock shifter back in?
