Mods VS Rods Race

Who all is running in this race
Does anyone know if its going to be bigger this year

what you need man i bet mine will cost more, need a nice auto too!

ill be ready for the race, hope to be ready by next weekend

fixing to pick up sone 160#ers and start putting pieces together

Is there a date yet? Last year it fell on my anniversary. I'm crafty... but not crafty enough to come up with an excuse good enough so she'd let me go.

I'm gonna try to make it this year. I was supposed to be there at the last one, with the '94 though, I didn't even have the '08 yet. Had the car and gear all loaded up and then woke up the morning of the race at 3am with a massive headache. I was not happy.

I'm just gonna have to decide which side to run on.

I've been kinda trying to dream up some way of pairing the cars so it's a little more fair too. It's probably gonna take knocking off the top (fastest) side of the ladder for the rod cars and no one from that side is gonna like that. That would make everyone more prone to sandbagging than normal in qualifying too.
Or maybe adding a certain amount of time to the side of the fastest qualified team of cars. i.e. if the fastest rod car is x.x seconds faster than the fastest mod car, then add x.x seconds to all the rod cars.
Dunno if any of this makes sense or if it's fair, just trying to throw something out there that might work a little better.

well if anyone remembers it coulda been a lot worse b/c the two fastest cars (rods) raced each other!

no way to make it fair b/c if its a mods vs rods race the rods will always dominate, way too fast b/c you guys spent all your money buying the newer cars whereas we bought old beat down cars then dumped money into them

Not for too long Steve!!! In about a year or so your going to be able to pick up a 2005 GT on the cheap!!! Then more money for a built motor and supercharger combo!!! You will be seeing a lot more 10 sec S197s!!

yep for sure, what kills me is how easy or cheap it is to make a 03/04cobra or new GT500 fast, i mean you can add a KB mammoth or a 3.4 whipple and voila 800RWHP

if it were me though twins on a gt500 would be nasty! but more work

thought about finding me an old 4 eyes car and building a lil 408 and spraying bout 250 or so to it to get it in the 9s for CHEAP but im not,

dont get me wrong i would love to have a newer car that is more of a daily driver, have even tried to buy a couple 03/04 cobras but the deal usually falls through or the car was all jacked up, oh well ive got a low 14sec 9000# beast! soon to be low 13sec and/or mid 12s with a lil giggle gas!

It is pretty easy, I just don't know if I want the head ache of having 800rwhp. I think I want below 750rwhp, in this power range you still have to worry about throwing a rod out the block if you rev it too high. I am thinking a whipple 2.9 or tvs is in my near future, get around 700rwhp and call it good. They got a package out right now with 2.9, whipple t/b, 72 injectors and mafia, waiting on some results, should be 700rwhp fairly easy.

yeah shouldnt be a problem but what i see is that you have already spent $40XXX + for your car

Money is not the problem, I just like being able to drive it as it is and not having to worry about anything breaking. That why I think 700 would be around the perfect spot, more than enough power but not enough where is not dependable anymore.
