Re: Suggestions on paint work
You get no second chance with me. Once you screw me on a deal you're done. You might as well go home and shoot yourself in the face.

I UNDERSTAND COMPLETLY GUYS JUST THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW. AS FAR AS DOING THE WORK MYSELF I USUALLY DO BUT HE OFFERD TO PUT THE PEICES ON (EVEN THOUGH SIMPLE) FOR NOTHING SO THAT WAS A NO BRAINER.

Glad you had a good experience with him Chris. I think he just lacks consistancy.

Re: Suggestions on paint work
I second what david said, once you make "the list" it is unlikely you will get off of it. even though he hasn't screwed me, i know of several he has screwed and because of that i wont give him any of my money.

Re: Suggestions on paint work
Man if I didn't know any better I would say you guys are related (Paul and Jared).! Ha, Ha. I am glad I have not yet become a victim of your bashing. I am not quick-witted enough to be fast with a come-back, but watchout when I do. About Will and Car FX I must say I am a pretty forgiving guy but when I get talked down to and told my idea of what I wanted to do with my car is only going to "cheap'n it up" it convinces me I do not want to do business there. Besides he doesn't know anything about my talents and I wonder when the last time he tried to tear down and rebuild an engine was. Or when the last time he tried to tune a car with a dyno was, or if he can even get one started once he modifies it?? I third Doc and Davids motion. Thanks for the info though Needforspeed. I am glad to see he treated someone with dignity.

Re: Suggestions on paint work
That takes alot of cajones to take a brand new GT500 at a time when dealers were still getting over 60k with markup, and take a saws-all to it before the plastic is even off of the seats.
I don't care who you are. That's straight-up hard.
The scenic roof or glassback or whatever that went in ended up looking nice, though. Here's a pic from Mustang Nationals I took.

Grabber07' wrote:When I first purchased my car I went to CarDFX for some quotes on performance products. For example...I asked him to quote a Hurst Comp shifter. He said he could get it for $220...I had seen them online for $199 but I thought what the who its here and convenient. I said ok thats fine...then he asked me if I wanted the shift ball with it because thats $60 extra..... I was like excuse me? The kit is complete...no one sells the kit separate for the shift ball...He was trying to put one by me.
He doesnt have a price list..its all in his head, whether he likes you or not, or how hes feeling that day determines your pricing. To add to that if your not spending over a grand with him..it seems as though you get tossed to the side.
Most anyone that has wrenched on a car before has more car knowledge then most all that work there and would be better off doing their own mods.
charging $1000 labor for a 4.10 rearend gear install? Plus parts? WTF are you kidding me. we have a Master Tech at Bob Hurley Ford that does our gears on the side for $200 labor...now tell me where their getting that $1000?
I asked him about stripes on the car...I asked about labor to put them on...he quoted me almost $700 to put them on!!! Seriously? Their prices are outrageous, their car knowledge is not up to par (my opinion) and they tried to overcharge me on more than one occasion.
Lets see, Got quoted like $500 for an XCAL with so called "Steeda Tunes" When in fact the were Kurtis's tunes and NOT Steedas. That right there really pissed me off.
Others in the club have had similar experiences and will never go back. Most of CarDfx's money comes from the Dealerships, so he puts them as a priority and then turns around with a rediculous price quote for something that you can probably find on the internet for half the price and install it yourself.
Sorry if I went on a rant...hehe I just dont want anyone to make the same mistake as I and get taken.
All all this time i thought it was my looks and colone. $500 for a painted and installed hood scoop. I bought stuff from them and i don't think they liked it when i walk out of the store with it and do the work myself. Ebay and lots of resurch for me.

Re: Suggestions on paint work
Wow I thought it was just me with Car Defects. I was a sales manager at a local dealership and Will was known as the cookie man he would come around begging for work and leave a box of cookies. We would let him take something and "dress it up" most was ok but some was $hit he has no taste sorry just a fact others have said before and after me. Any way fast forward I bought my 2006 in early 07 used and wanted to change the wheels and paint my mirrors everyone said goto Will on all mustang stuff so I did. He wanted something I had so we swapped around I kinda came out on the worng side price wise but what the hell I was happy. Later on as I went back to spend more money he started getting a weird attitude like he was better than other people and would talk about someone just before they walked in and then act real nice to their face in I wondered in my mind was he that way with me too? Found out later he was. So he talked me into putting leather in my car for something else I sold a trade so to speak it was valued at 569.00 I said ok my cost was only 415.00. I take my car their and he puts a big box in the front seat and says take it to Kenny's ok guess I thought he did the work but ok so he sublets it. So I drive over to Kenny's (they do great work btw). I get done and take it over to show him and he says I need to pay Kenny's for the labor huh?? He says the leather kit cost him 600.00 I said then you are getting screwed New take off has it for 299.00 to anyone and to dealers 239.00 I had called ahead of time to see if it was a good trade glad I did. He got real mad that I checked up on a price on him too bad it took about 2hrs to put on the seats so 299.00 plus 2x 60.00 labor rate 420.00 total even trade huh. So fast forward he now thinks I owe him something and has been rude ever since. I was kinda feeling bad till I read your stories becuse everyone in Green Country Mustangs think he walks on water and I was the only one with a problem. whew sorry to go on like that but it has been bottled up for about 3 months. It bothered me alot remembering back to 2003-2004 before the S197 he was just the cookie man begging for work.

George, first off let me say Welcome!
Ok now that the niceties are out of the way I think you will fiond that most agree completely with what you just said and have had similar experiences themselves. You have read the posts and couldn't agree more. Everyone I talk to says the same thing. " I went there one time and will never go back" . It's sad really. Hope to see you around.

Re: Suggestions on paint work
Welcome George!! Feel free to rant all you want!! your judgments and assesments of Car DFX is right on with most of the rest of us. So now we as a group try find the cheapest deals online or here in town and then install it for free....the club gets together for Tech Days and has a great time installing parts on members cars at no charge.
I will never again use DFX not ever...and most would agree on your experience. Hope you will join the club!! and hope to see you around!

Re: Suggestions on paint work
That's the place I had my Roush wing painted/installed. The price to paint/install it was fair. However, the monkey that did the install used some kind of liquid adhesive, and it dripped down my rear bumper, and it draws dirt/grime like no other. I can't seem to clean it off, either - so it was some heavy-duty stuff.
The reason I'll NEVER go back to him has to do with his absolute lack of knowledge of supercharges, while professing to know-it-all.
He tried to tell me that Kenne Bell SC's suck, while the Rousch-charger was the end-all, be-all of SC's.
This is the same ass-clown that can't even tune his own gear.
