Trinity is good but not perfect. They did some work on my moms car and I caught a couple mistakes. Although this one didnt relate to paint, they totally overlooked the fact that her transmission cooler broke and was leaking fluid everywhere.

I'd use carfx,or give the color code to a paint store and put it in a spray can and do it yourself.

For gods sakes, dont' use car fx. the shop next to car fx however is run by a guy named david. he will do a good job. he has painted a couple of things for me. i would just order the paint etc online and do it yourself though.

Can someone fill me in on CarFX then? I've been to some local shows that they sponsor. Did they f up someones car?

Would like to know specifics because I'd rather it be based on somebody had a bad outcome with them, then I'd feel better about staying clear.

Thanks all...

Suggestions on paint work Empty Re: Suggestions on paint work

Post by Guest 3/28/2008, 1:26 am

When I first purchased my car I went to CarDFX for some quotes on performance products. For example...I asked him to quote a Hurst Comp shifter. He said he could get it for $220...I had seen them online for $199 but I thought what the who its here and convenient. I said ok thats fine...then he asked me if I wanted the shift ball with it because thats $60 extra..... I was like excuse me? The kit is complete...no one sells the kit separate for the shift ball...He was trying to put one by me.

He doesnt have a price list..its all in his head, whether he likes you or not, or how hes feeling that day determines your pricing. To add to that if your not spending over a grand with him..it seems as though you get tossed to the side.

Most anyone that has wrenched on a car before has more car knowledge then most all that work there and would be better off doing their own mods.

charging $1000 labor for a 4.10 rearend gear install? Plus parts? WTF are you kidding me. we have a Master Tech at Bob Hurley Ford that does our gears on the side for $200 labor...now tell me where their getting that $1000?

I asked him about stripes on the car...I asked about labor to put them on...he quoted me almost $700 to put them on!!! Seriously? Their prices are outrageous, their car knowledge is not up to par (my opinion) and they tried to overcharge me on more than one occasion.

Lets see, Got quoted like $500 for an XCAL with so called "Steeda Tunes" When in fact the were Kurtis's tunes and NOT Steedas. That right there really pissed me off.

Others in the club have had similar experiences and will never go back. Most of CarDfx's money comes from the Dealerships, so he puts them as a priority and then turns around with a rediculous price quote for something that you can probably find on the internet for half the price and install it yourself.

Sorry if I went on a rant...hehe I just dont want anyone to make the same mistake as I and get taken.

Jarrod is correct. There are a bunch of stories just like that. We get new members all the time that had their cars worked on by Car Dx and all seemed to turn into a cluster in one way or another.

Well, This has been good feedback. I am kinda half in and half out on CFX cause he took care of my back window louvers and replaced my black rockers w/ red for a decent price, but when I talked w/ him about the SHR flush louvers that he shows in his store he wouldn't commit to installing because of issues he had with the visibility not being clear, My Wife bought me a set for Christmas that needed painting and he said the guy next to him couldn't get it done cause he was painting 150 cop cars and the painter he suggested will not return my call, I did call Bodies by Bobby and he can get it done for $200 or I can trade these back to SHR and get the prepainted set for $150 plus freight.

I have had nothing but good luck with car fx.I have never paid 1 cent more than what it would cost to order. All the parts that were painted on my gt match perfect. He will get into ypur shorts if you let him.He has always been fair to me.When i messed up one of my stripes he gave me a new one. When i messed up my cdc chinspoiler he completely re finished it and put the stripes on for 100 bucks. When i went in for touch up paint he gave it to me.Until i let him screw me i will do business with them.

Went in and priced a Tri-Ax shifter from Steeda. Was quoted the same price as advertised on the Steeda site. I thought ok this is ok Just pay sales tax and I can get it right now. Then came the devistating blow that cost my business for good. WIll tells me "oh I forgot the shifter handle is an extra $40 and isn't included with the kit" I was thinking in my head "are you kidding? Do you take me for an idiot?" I walked out and haven't been back since. Will is a nice guy but will rape your ass if you let him.

that is because you are a haggler and you tell them like it is. you shouldn't have to do that, customer service should be given, you shouldn't feel like you are talking with a used car salesman everytime you have to go in there. i would much rather shop locally for my parts etc but they will screw you over on most things ! they also do some dishonest things like say they can tune your car etc. which is not true, they send all that out to be done.

Thanks for the feedback guys. This is the benefit of having a good local forum. I frequent some other stang forums but nobody knows whats going on locally.

They made my vinyl numbers for my car back when I first got it. I had to go back a 2nd time because it wasn't an exact match to my statics. I didn't get charged twice and I think he did me a good deal because he liked the PJ and he was planning on (hoping) I'd have more done, so Will was cool with me. Other than that I've seen him at some car shows and he's a sponsor for Green Country. There's a crowd that use him for multiple mods so I guess he's at least been fair with some, but this business of charging extra for a shifter ball.... lol! I'd be pissed too.

I haven't had anything else done but it is good feedback just in case I decide to do more... Always get feedback from multiple sources on service like this.

Thanks!

Maybe hes changed? I went in for my shifter in 2006 when I purchased my 07'.... You try to put one past me the first time and I will never return...no matter how much better your running your business now. You may give me good prices and fair deals today but what you did to me yesterday will keep me away...just my 2 cents.

Tony it looks like hes treated you fairly so far. Good luck.

I myself will spend my money elsewhere

I'm also a professional diver and try to buy locally to support the local dive shops. Even thought their dive training staff is incompetent. One at lease figured out that they will have to compete with the internet and now matches the price.

I'd like to do the same with Will if only he'd be more up front on pricing. I don't want to have to wonder and CYA ever time I do biz with someone. Plus I do 99% of the install/work myself.
