New Mods Update #2
Saturdays installs
1) C&R/Shelby Dual Fan Dual Pass Heat Exchanger
2) Lethal Performance Off-Road X exhaust
3) Reische Performance 170 deg Thermostat
HUGE shout out to Mike (Supersnake) and David M (07shelby500) for their help yesterday. Both of them gave up their Saturday to help a fellow member/friend out. I very much appreciate it guys and as I told you yesterday, anything you need just give me a call.
Managed to get the C&R/Shelby Heat Exchanger, Reiche 170 deg performance Thermostat, and Lethal Performance's Off-Road X pipe installed in one day. Definitely took longer than expected. Got started right at 12:00 and didnt get completely finished until very late. Mike and Dave were both troopers and saw the install through. The instructions werent bad, but since most of the How-To was for the previous 07-09 we had to make some adjustments.
Bumper off
Stock H/E coming out
Old heat exchanger below in black, new H/E above. Quite a bit of difference.
C&R H/E going in
Wireing it up
H/E install is finished and bumper is on.
Heat Exchanger was definitely a worth while mod...the thing stays complete cool. The supercharger stayed much much cooler even after 20 minutes of having the car idle. Very impressed.
Also took a quick video of the exhaust this morning after the Lethal O/R X install. Sounds amazing! :) Very happy with it. Although now I can be heard when driving spirited...going to have to keep the exhaust note down around town hehe
Also installed the Reische 170 Deg Thermostat and adjusted the low and high fans in the tune to take full advantage. Car stays very cold! Temp gauge does not go over 1/4 of the way up.
Again thanks to all that helped. Mike and David I owe you guys big time.

Glad to help. I'm sure I'll be doing mine in the near future so the experience was helpful. Really the wiring was probably the most time consuming.

Looks good! Sorry I couldnt stay longer
I must have a lower thermostat also, my tuck stays about the same place you described, and never budges
P/S, if you hang around Jarrod too long, you get the mod bug even worse!

So do you like the off road sound with stock mufflers?

Sounds pretty good with the stockers. Does have some raspyness at full throttle, but just driving around town letting the rpms go up through the gears it sounds great. Full throttle sounds mean with a little bit of rasp, but manageable
Quick drive

Re: New Mods Update #2
You will be VERY unhappy with the krs and off road pipe. Had them on for a week WAY TO LOUD and Raspy.Could drive through tulsa and set off car alarms surprised I never got pulled over. Put the stockers back on much more manageable.

Re: New Mods Update #2
They are definitely a little raspy but overall it sounds good. I may have some small resonators to deepen the tone and drown the popping on decel, but for now I am very happy with the results
Thanks for all the compliments guys

You'll like this. I've already set off alarms with just the KR mufflers. One was an old Camaro alarm at work in parking lot. lol And few other cars in neighborhood. I think these mufflers are just right...they provide some good noise, but not too much at same time. I've been happy with them, but you have to go through the gears just right to get a great note. Definitely much noisier than stockers.

I really liked the kr's with the cats on but with my off road x pipe just to much. Really like the sound of the stockers with the x pipe.

Re: New Mods Update #2
Look at it like this, soon all you guys will prolly be SO old that you won't even hear your exhaust anymore. So what's the loudness matter anyways?

Coming from someone that just got a ticket......
You go ahead and set off those car alarms, you'll be broke from paying the court fees and sound ordinance tickets. AND remember just because its loud doesnt mean it sounds good.

Oh so very true. I saw a new Camaro SS the other day and when the guy took off from a light it sounded like his car was about to explode. It was LOUD, but it sounded BAD.
And btw Jarrod, grats on the mods, looks and sounds great!

Re: New Mods Update #2
Yeah but you guys should know mine sounds damn good! Well I think it does atleast, it could be louder, I could run straight pipes or some louder mufflers but one, waste of money, and two I like how it sounds now, especially that 5k-6k range. Makes me happy just thinking about it... :)

Re: New Mods Update #2
The quality of sound of ones exhaust is a highly subjective subject. What may sound good to you.....may not be to others. What may not sound "loud" to you....may sound obnoxious to others.

Sure it does, BUT Barrett stated he loves his exhaust sound in the upper RPMS (the way it is now). I know that car well....its due to the shorty aftermarket headers that it sounds so good (Smooth is a good word here). David M had almost the same setup but with stocker headers and it sounded completely different than barretts.
I have heard longtubes, off-road x, and flowmasters before....hes going to lose that smooth sound in the uppers he has grown to love. Maybe he will like the new found loudness, but it definitely will not sound like the exhaust he currently has and thats a fact.
Thats all I was inferring.

You cant go back and change your post! I know what you meant. Im just saying, what you originally said goes both ways. Jareds car sounds good and honestly didnt know it had LT's. And im not saying you said it sounded bad either...
He seems dead set on LT's, so it really doesnt matter!
