Muffler Problems Empty Muffler Problems

Post by fst06stg 12/3/2008, 10:06 pm

well, when i got my car, the first mod was super 40 series flowmasters. i had them on for a year and a half until the passenger side muffler started rattling. i took it back to the certified installer and he said it was the mufflers going bad. as a result, i had to have my stock mufflers put back on. i understand that flowmasters are supposed to be warranteed for life, but a flood swept through Coffeyville where i live last year and whiped out my house AND the muffler shop, destroying both of our records of me even having the mufflers. i still have them sitting in my garage and i have yet another email into flowmaster. whats a guy to do?

I would call them and get someone on the phone. Explain the situation to them and see what they suggest. If they say there isnt much you can do then you just have to chalk it up and live and learn but every once in a while you get someone cool at a manufacturer and they will help you out.

Yep... I replaced mine. VERY well known problem. The delta flow baffles or whatever come loose. Basically the spot-welds on the first ones were poo poo. Thus is makes more noise than jarrod in a prison shower.

Paul,

Have you ever hit K&M up for a sponsorship? We could easily send him a lot of business if he is reputable and does good work.

heres the response flowmaster gave me:

Yancey,

I’m sorry to hear about the problem that you had with your muffler. Unfortunately, we need a receipt to show proof of purchase and verify that you are the original owner. If the dealer remembers you, they should be able to warranty the muffler out through their distributor. That is the fastest way to warranty out one of our mufflers. They should be able to exchange it through their distributor and get everything straightened out. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Thanks.

heres the problem though: my dealer doesnt want to work with me. he basically told me that i dont have a receipt and he doesnt have the records... even though ive been a loyal customer and have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars at his business. hopefully the K&M thing works out.

This pisses me off.... It's not like this is the first case of "The Rattle".. They are well aware that this problem exist. Why do they need a receipt??? Isn't FLOWMASTER stamped on the Mufflers, proving it's theirs enough??

It is hard to find good partners/vendors these days. They either do half ass work or they refuse to put anything in writing as far as price goes. Not saying this is the case with this guy but out of the 7 or 8 vendors I have worked with there are only 1 or 2 that I have enjoyed working with.

well ya know, like i said... ive had all of my exhaust work done there on my last 3 vehicles, oil changes, windshield chips... and this guy wants to just brush me off like im some dumb kid. its BS. and about the receipt thing, Hell, he hand writes his own damn receipts. why cant he just make me one. ill never go back there. im a customer representative for PEPSI and i go above and beyond for my customers. just seems theres no loyalty reward to some people though.
