No sweat Casi.

Everything looked fine. She was showing no codes. I returned it to stock reloaded the 91 tune and also, disconnected the battery (30 sec) just to be sure.

WELL....it did it again, 2 times tonight. Both times while cruising along in 4th gear, out of nowhere, I slow down and no throttle response. This gets very frustrating when you are in traffic and there are people behind you. Not to mention embarrassing when I am supposed to have a nice car. I thought I knew how to drive a standard but maybe I don't...at what RPM's do you change gears? I am VERY frustrated right now!! Ugghhhhh!!!!

Damn! Well I usually shift mine around 2500 so if I'm driving easy. Closer to 3000 of I'm trying to hurry through the gears. I still still no codes? I would think if it was the throttle position it would have thrown a code at this point. Could be the pedal lag thing. Jarrod do you still have the post from the how to fix the pedal lag that was over on TMS?

I am still running the 91 octane tune. I do shift anywhere from 2500 to 3000 rpms depending on if I am in a hurry or not like David said. But when it happens, it has always been in 4th gear. I am wondering if the 91 octane tune is corrupted.

Also if you have the stock rear gears either 355 or 331 fourth gear in town at around 40 mph has the revs pretty low. I was staying in third alot with my stock gears. Switching to the 410s made fourth alot more liveable in town.

I was told the Saleen pkg has 3.73 gears. In town I normally run in 4th at around 45 mph. And that has been where the problem happens, at random.

You can run the 87 tune with the 91 octane you have in the tank. You might load that tune and drive it for a couple days to see if it happens there. If not then the 91 tune is most likely corrupt.

i just started reading this and i guess really it doesn't matter much now, but casi. why did you get a 93 tune in tulsa. to my knowledge they only have 91 octane at normal pumps. i know you can get higher octane race fuel from the pump in BA, but who's going to pay for it unless you really need it and surely not for a DD. i also would say switch to the 87 octane brenspeed tune and see what that does. if nothing from that put the stock air box back on and the stock tune back in.

the other question i have is if it's an actual saleen why would you change out the stock tune when the saleen tune is already pushing it past a standard gt. saleen specs do say you have 3.73 gears for a manual trans and also say you have 330 engine hp. i've never done any homework on the saleen vehicles before, but if you already had an aftermarket intake and such why change it out for minimal gains. just my .02

Just spoke to Dave at Brenspeed. The tune they gave did not include the JLT. He is going to send the corrected tune by Friday. The tune that I have is for the stock airbox so that explains why it is not running right. I hope by me driving the car with a wrong tune has not damaged anything?

Saleen inflates their HP numbers. The air box Casi had stock is just the standard GT air box...most likely with a high flow filter? Brenspeed tunes the cars well past what Saleen will do and with the new Much larger JLT II Cold Air Kit...saleen does not have a tune to adjust for the added air flow other than going with a Saleen supercharger and going with the Massive Cold air kit they offer for blower applications.

The new tune and tuner will now allow her to install aftermarket parts such as the off-road H pipe, CMCV delete plates, gears (if needed), long tubes, etc and have Brenspeed adjust for the tune, which saleen will not do for you.

thanks jarrod, i do know what the tuner does as i have one. just didn't know anything about the saleen itself. i've never edjucated myself on them. i figured if they advertised that kind of engine hp they must come with a cai or something similar to the shelby gt's or other similar bolt on option cars. now the question why would you get a 93 octane tune in tulsa??? i could see getting maybe a 100 octane tune as you can get that at the pump i believe or something close to it at the performace shop across from rhema. don't know exact octane out of the pump as i haven't been there in a while.

When you purchase an email tune from Brenspeed they send you the standard 87 91 93 for you to choose from...which tune you use will depend on what octane is available in your area. You can most likely ask Brent at Brenspeed to make you a 100 race tune...but the majority of his customers do not request this....dumping higher octane fuel in a naturally aspirated motor really wont gain you all that much...but pull from your pocket book to pay for the gas. You may see a few HP from the added timing in the motor...but in my opinion the means doesnt justify the ends result and hassle

87, 91 and 93 are the most widely used octane in the us. We do not have it here but you really dont have an option with going with a nation wide tuner. If you go to Brenspeeds web page you will see you have the option of buying one octane tune or a package of 3 which is the 87,91,93. You can special order whatever octane you want but it is more expensive and you cant substitute as far as i know. So the cheapest way to go when ordering mail order tunes to get the 87 and 91 octane is to buy the package. I know you can get a 101 tune at most places. I believe David has a 101 race tune on his.

ah i guess i'm glad i didn't get mine from brent then. i figured he was the same as doug over at bama. i told them which tunes i wanted and for what octane i wanted them. i actually did ask brent about the 100 octane tune and he pretty much said unless you are pushing the limits with full bolt-ons including h&c then it's not going to do much. the only reason i said anything about the 100 tune was because i knew there wasn't 93 in tulsa. i didn't know that's how they sent the tuner
