Good Camera?
Alright so I want to start taking some bad @$$ pics of my car, and others of course. Anyways, found the family camera nobody uses anymore and I mean I know it was hella expensive when we bought it but technology is always getting better for cheaper so I have no clue if it's still good. So any of you that know anything about cameras, is a Sony Cybershot DSC-F828 good for what I wanna use it for?

Re: Good Camera?
Sure. Just gotta get your angles right and maybe a little editing depending on the picture and you could have some bad arse pics.

Re: Good Camera?
I've seen some great shots with relative cheap cameras. I find the user makes a big difference. Sony does get some complaints of purple fringing and not performing well at low ISO settings. This model is what I a mini SLR. Some manual features, but for the most part automatic.

Love what Nikon is bringing to the table...their DSLR and High Res video cameras are getting better every year.

Its all about formatting. All SLRs take large pictures and are very detailed. The site you host your pictures on or certain editing programs will allow you to resize your pictures to fit on forums, facebook, emails etc
I host my pictures on www.flikr.com

Re: Good Camera?
Hector... for a phone camera, it does shoot some very nice pics.
Jarrod is right though. When shooting for something you might wanna hang on the wall, also select for the highest format resolution. That will give you the best/clearest pics.
The great thing about digital, is that if your color or white balance is off, you can always tune it with a good editing software. ;)
Also, not sure if your Sony does or not, but most mid to upper end Nikons and Cannons allow you to save your file/photo in RAW format vs. JPG or others. If so, do this! It will allow you to export in 16 bit vs. 8 bit for JPG. This will allow for truer color and contrast. Basically it won't compress the file. Not needed for everyday use, because the file sizes start to get HUGE, but if you are going for awesome pics, this helps.

Re: Good Camera?
No prob... Forgot to mention, you will need a photoshop or something similar to read the RAW files. You can't just shoot and then view.
As you can see... shooting RAW can be time consuming. That's why I say, for everyday shots JPG is fine. I shoot RAW for when I'm felling artsy or taking photo of Jarrod because I want to capture his inner beauty. :)
