SLR camera buffs, get in here!

Ok, really looking at finally getting a real camera, problem is I know nothing about these cameras. Both junky cameras we have now take crappy pictures especially if it just slighty dark. So I am looking at like say a Canon Rebel T1i D-SLR package that Worst Buy has on special. So please, let me know what everyone likes, I am just tired of taking pictures and they turn out dark when it shouldn't be dark.

Andrea loves here Nikon SLR and always takes really nice HD pictures.

Cannon and Nikon are both excellent SLR cameras.

IMO, Cannon will be a little more user friendly if just getting started in the game.

I have a Cannon Rebel XTi with two different lenses and really like it.
