NEW WARHORSE
by john automan
"after mondays surprising victory at Fujimi Kaido we decided to catch up with team bold moves, upon arriving to their garage in fujimi we were greeted by the roar of an American v8. something were sure most of japan will become familiar with by the end of Wednesday. after thoroughly filling our pants from the awesomeness we sat down with the team leader Paul Hines. a short man by any cultures standards he proceeded to fill us in on the BMMC GTR.
"the BMMC GTR is a group effort at its core. something we all wanted to get together and build. we started with a discarded gt that had a blow engine and trashed transmission. the previous owner had run it into the ground. the transmission had gone out and the owner kept his foot in it spun it up and pop went the motor. this left us with a pretty clean slate as to what to do, as we didn't have a whole lot of time before the races we opted to replace the engine and transmission with some what OEM parts, the engine was a stock 4.6L 3v v8 when we got it. from there we pulled the engine apart and reworked the heads, porting and polishing them, we added a knife edge crank that was forged locally, as well as dished pistons and forged rods and converted the engine to a dry sump oiling system, solid engine mounts to hold it all down. for the transmission we put in a mcleod twin disk with carbon grip pads and an aluminum fly wheel. from there we added an aluminum drive shaft and posi rear end.
we knew the car was going to be turning in some pretty unfriendly ways so we added custom made linear springs with extremely stiff rates that lowered the car 2 inches. after market Baer 14 inch 6 piston brakes and carbon pads rounded off the brakes and suspension. of course we also beefed up the control arms. we added a reduced assist rack and pinion for greater feel. after that it was simply insuring the car had enough down force to keep it on the ground. american auto-sports (that's us) did the graphics work on the car."
after our interview he took us back and showed us the vehicle itself. a absolutely stunning performance white mustang that would have enthusiast at their knees. as we walked around the vehicle we couldn't help but think to our selves that this was truly a professionally built vehicle every thing was perfect. there wasn't a single rivet out of place on this car and then we noticed something on the rear of the car. it seems that boldmoves did have a sense of humor. on the trunk lid of the car was a Decepticon symbol from the movie transformers, a nod to team mullers 2010 camaro. and below that "WARHORSE" was spelled out in silver vinyl. a fitting name for such a fast steed.
as we ended our visit and walked back to the front there was still something that was bugging me. i asked paul "why did you choose Jared to drive the GTR?" as the words left my lips a sneer flew across his face "CHOOSE?!?!? we didnt choose him to drive the car, HE STOLE THE KEYS!!!"
heres a clippet about from imagination news!
in one of the greatest upsets in recent race history m. rossi was beaten out today in the super lab class d racing series. J. G. Hale and bold moves racing took the podium by storm. the late entry to the series won an astounding victory at Fujimi Kaido, before taking 1st place at nurburgring wednesday, making history. with 24 out of a possible 36 points, team boldmoves has secured a victory in the class d super lap series and is the first American racing team to do so. their 344 hp GTR mustang out turning and outrunning the competition. m. rossi was heavily favored to win the series with his supercharged Mercedes c34, when we caught up to him he angrily stated "i just ran out of #$% #$%# horsepower!", though that hardly seemed the case as he was outclassed all round. bold moves victory at Fujimi Kaido came as a shock as no one had yet seen the team run. yet from the beginning it was apparent that the team was a contender as right out of the gate the mustang pulled a healthy lead ahead of the pack, its turning ability coming as an even greater surprise, navigating the twists and turns of fujimi with ease. not once during the whole race did the mustang cede ground to the competition.
Wednesdays victory showed how capable the vehicle was as the GTR quickly out ran the pack.
when asked about the victory jared said it was a team effort, saying "with out there hard work non of it would have been possible". indeed with bold moves large team its hardly any surprise it was a team effort.
with only one race left in the series and bold moves taking a points victory it hardly matters as to weather or not the team shows up for the race at rally Di Pasitano.
and rumor has it a GTR02's in the works go bold moves!!!
