Never was a fan of the Guigiaro design. Bottom line. They are really going to have to step it up. It will be hard to top the current design.
Nice motor choice though!

Re: 2010 Mustang Rumors and Fact
Well all the pictures are purely speculation based on several "spy" shots of test vehicles wearing the camo covers. I do like the ideas of the motor choices. A few rumors are the 5.0 liter 3-valve n/a 350hp, same motor with a Twin Turbo making 550 hp and a 3.8 liter twin turbo making just over 400 hp. Not sure what they will end up with but all sound pretty healthy.

They are droping GO as a color option. a Ford Spokesperson was quoted as saying, "That color was marketing's idea and not that of the design team. It's the gayest color out there. It's not a color that should be associated with muscle. If you want a orange car, buy a Jetta, Bug or Miata."

Yep. Looks like the word is a definite 5.0 with 4V heads 400hp/360tq. Possible TT for "Boss" edition 500hp/??tq both motors could receive the Direct Injection technology. Better Fuel economy and more performance!

Re: 2010 Mustang Rumors and Fact
My question is this. How come Ford is always behind Chevy power/performance wise? They are just now coming out with something that will hit the 400hp mark. Forget the GT500 for right now. When are they going to make something LIGHT AND POWERFUL? On top of that, they havent built anything close to Chevy n/a wise. WTF is up with all that? So much for 500rwhp with the TT or a gt500, the zr1 has what, 600? Sorry for the rant.

Hmmmmomm, turbochargers can be easily manipulated to make more boost and more power in my book! Just think a factory forged bottom-end with twin turbochargers. Sounds like a dream come true to me! I can hear the turbos spooling up now at the starting line on the drag strip then all of a sudden a swoosh and the sound of a jet plane taking off and you and your car are propelled to 1.6 60 foot times and a 11.50 1/4 mile at 121 mph!

Re: 2010 Mustang Rumors and Fact
The fact is that Ford hasn't had to up the numbers to compete. Look. The Camaro/Firebird before its demise had more hp than the Mustang. Really a huge amount more but they still couldn't sell enough to justify the production any longer and this is why they stopped making them. The Mustang has always been popular and always will be for the simple fact that when you buy a Mustang you are buying into a tradition as american as baseball and moms apple pie. It's great that they are talking about putting more power into the mustang but in reality there are very few buyers that are concerned about the power numbers and are more interested in the fact that they are buying into a heritige, a bloodline as it were. Honestly the aftermarket has always made a way for the power to be had that makes competing with brand X possible. For example, you could purchase a used fox body car and build a really hot motor, add some sort of forced induction to the thing, throw an entire host of go fast goodies at it. Make 500 or more hp and not come close to what you could spend on a new Fireturd. Just my .02

Re: 2010 Mustang Rumors and Fact
Agreed. The people who want to make them faster will and do with help from the aftermarket. Since all of the brand X'ers think just because there cars have more power from the factory they are faster than all Mustangs makes it that much more enjoyable when you sneak up on one and whip it's AZZZZ with a midly modified 'Stang. Remember the Foxes were under-powered compared to the brand X cars and because of weight and tractability they could beat the competition in the 1/4 mile with less HP. Its combo as a whole that make it faster not just the HP.

Re: 2010 Mustang Rumors and Fact
I guess Im just more focused on the newer ls1 and up stuff. I know the aftermarket has stuff to make up for it, but at the same time, mod for mod fbods win. Im not quite sure how you all do mod for mod with them but I do know thats true with us 2v's. But eh oh well I should be able to pound them all here pretty quick.
A TT v8 would be a sick nasty car though. If they do put out 500rwhp they wont need too much to be able to keep up with the zr1's as long as Ford doesnt make them pigs. I would love to have the TT, that would be so easy to make big power out of like stated above...for cheap.

I'd say that antenna on the rear is probably a temporary - hooked up to some test equipment installed by the engineers in the test mule.
