not yet...We are trading out work. He is wanting his truck wrapped. I showed him some websites I liked and what I wanted. Page is suppose to have flash and other stuff on it. He has been trying to talk me out of doing flash on the page for about a week now. He came by last Friday and said all we have left is to add the pictures up on the site and it's done. His truck wrap is going to cost $2800.00 and he is trying to tell me this is a $3000.00 site.
Man I'm in the wrong business!!

Re: Question??
Does the 3k price include a CMS (content mgt. system) or will he be handling all content changes?
$3k is the norm price for a moderate content static site done by a dev company.. The extras start adding up if you include some type of CMS and E-commerce functionality.
Does that include monthly hosting fees???
You sometimes can get the next door geek to build one for you, but you get what you pay for.

ya it includes the CMS I think (atleast we talked about it). I paid for the domain and the email account. I have not found someone yet to host it. He said he would host it for a month or so until I decide on a place.

Re: Question??
Ya that if a professianal does it... but normally they will throw in a year of free hosting. Who's building it? Is it a professional development group or j"oe hacker" down the street?

A place called Bring It Digital. It's a guy doing it out of his house. He is also doing E-Marketing Solutions for the site.

He said something about setting it up by the pages.

Re: Question??
Good. GSA will only crawl the site so deep. You have to point it to basically crawl specific pages. Setup here is key for quality search results.
When someone searches for "Banners Tulsa".. you want your site to be at least in the top three search results. SEO... is huge. It's really a skill and talent to get good results.

Re: Question??
Food for thought. A lot of the internet activity is being done through mobile devices. If someone searches your site through say an iPhone, they will not be able to view your website because it the phone does not support flash. This may be rare occasions, but simpler sites load faster and my opinion are easier to navigate. I absolutely hate navigating flash sites. Ford.com is one that comes to mind. I like what you got so far, the previews look good.

Re: Question??
My brother and I both do websites.... I honestly don't think that site is worth 3K. For 3K, it should be much better. I would charge like 1800 for a site that simple. The only way I would charge 3K is if it is free hosting for a year and making changes from month to month.
I think we only charged like 300 for this site.

Re: Question??
If he is doing quite a few things in the Rankings on searches I would say it is worth it. To pull your business name on searches is worth some major coin.

ya, I agree. I don't like alot of flash. I just wanted the top part to have some...ie car going from plain to wrapped, office wall plain then a sign appears, or something like that.

thats what I was thinking about 1800 and 3000 with the flash. But he is saying it's going to be alot more for flash. I guess it's just when we first put this together we talked about the top part being flash. Now he is telling me it's going to be more money.

Re: Question??
Kirby was dealing with a website guy for our work and he said that the guy was going to charge us 3,000 for the site and it was going to be simple. But he was going to monitor the GSA for a year to keep our search ranking at the top and then charge us 500.00 to maintain every year after that. I think kirby will chime in here in a little bit.
