Re: motor turns over. no fire.
You did have the throttle wide open during the compression check didn't you? If it's closed it'll lie to you. I'm not that familiar with mod motors to know what could hold the valves open but thats what it sounds like is going on. My google skills led me to this possibility-Did you collapse the lash adjusters before reassembly?

Re: motor turns over. no fire.
i did not compress the lash adjustors. theyr suppose to bleed down when you turn the motor over. but they may be staying pumped up.
i just completed a leak test on cylinder 5....intake valves arnt closing. had air coming out the intake..... not sure where to go from here. i can send the heads back to the machine shop to have new seats installed.
i think im gonna start disassembling the motor, once i get the lash adjustors out ill collapse them and rerun the leak test.... if i can get the valves to close all the way i'll reassemble the motor and try to start it again.

Re: motor turns over. no fire.
i finished the last of my tests and well the heads have to come off and go back to the machine shop. valve seats are too low. its not their fault its mine. they didnt have the cams to test lash with. any ways either the heads are going to have to have their seats replaced or their going to have to ground the valve stems down(if the stem length will still be within limits)
any ways cross your fingers and maybe this wont be too expensive...i hope.

Re: motor turns over. no fire.
stanley morton. only place i trust to do anything on an engine. their work is flawless. this isnt their fault cause i had them machine the heads without the cams, rockers, springs..... no way to check everything without those. the person who does assembly is suppose to check that....that would be me.
i havent told them about the problem yet. i dont expect them to do anything for free since this was my mistake. im sure they can fix this though.

Re: motor turns over. no fire.
the heads may not have been in spec even before the valve job.

Re: motor turns over. no fire.
shouldn't that be part of the preliminary check? If the heads are not in spec and the shop does the work anyway, are they not liable by being the last ones to touch it? Who's to say they didn't cause the damage?
Re: motor turns over. no fire.
no way to check that stuff with out the cams, springs and rockers.

Re: motor turns over. no fire.
possibly. It's one reason I am scared to have Dustin do my heads until I have my cams picked out.
Re: motor turns over. no fire.
you cant check lash without the cam and rocker installed. pretty much you have to assemble the head like it would be on the motor. should be able to wiggle the rockers and push down on them over the lash adjuster. if they dont move you have a problem.....my intakes dont move....

Fluffy, do you still need my tools and stuff? I could really use my tools back. No rush on the jack, jack stands, fluid catch pan, etc. Just my toolbox if you don't need them anymore. If you could still use them to make things easier for you, hurry up.....
