Tire size question Empty Tire size question

Post by KevinGT 7/24/2011, 8:04 pm

Hey Guys,

I am in the market for new tires since the Nitto's are looking rough. I have 255/35/20 on the front and 275/35/20 on the rear. I found some really well priced 245/35/20's on sale but will that cause any issue? Does that number represent the width of the tread right? I just don't know what to watch out for if I change tire size they are both nitto zr tires.

Those will have a slightly shorter sidewall than the ones you have now as well as a slightly smaller tread width.

255mm tread width/35%of the treadwidth (aspect ratio) /20 wheel size. VS. 245mm tread width/35% of the 245 /20

See?

So a difference of 3.5 mm. Very minimal.

what are the width of the wheels. i personally don't think you would be happy getting a 245 tire. think about it........if i remember correctly that's what comes on the stock wheels and they are sooooo narrow.

I have 245 on the front and like them on a 9" wheel.

450 rwhp on a 245 wide tire isnt going to work well especially on a 20'' rim

Hows that whipple working out for your Kevin? Still running strong?

I was assuming 245s in the front, not all the way around.
