Considering buying a truck Empty Considering buying a truck

Post by hutchenstein 7/9/2011, 11:32 pm

So, I have been thinking about this for a while, and now that I actually have a decently paying job I am considering buying a truck (no I'm not selling the stang). Basically what I am looking for is something like this: http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/2480077025.html but actually has a motor and isnt falling apart. I am looking for a 1973-1979 f-100 4x4. Looking to spend a couple grand for something that runs well but doesnt need to look pretty. Probably won't be actually buying for another few months at least, but thought I would throw this up there for any thoughts/suggestions you guys would have or in case you run across a good deal in the future. The thought is to have an old truck that I can beat to hell and have fun with offroad and not feel bad if i dent it etc, plus I love this body style f-100. Thoughts? think its a good idea? Stupid? I would love to hear what you think.

I'm not really a Jeep guy. Plus I would like a truck for the hauling crap ability as well. But I guess that could be worth looking into.

we borrowed a friends cherokee sport and hated it. just no leg room and not comfortable at all.

you can pretty easily find full sized bronco's for that kind of money. remember the top comes off also for hauling things.

Hmmm a bronco could be tempting. Could still get the old Ford feel and even better for offroading

I would rather get a truck than a bronco. If you get a white one, we will change your screen name to OJ!

After a bit of looking broncos seem to bit a bit pricier. They are also hella easier to find tho. The particular body style I'm looking for is hard to find in decent condition it seems.

anything that is not currently in production, or is not the current body style will be hard to find in good condition. If you want something nice you have to pay the price.

Get a Honda Ridgeline - they may not be making them after 2012 MY, which means the used ones will triple in value!

Well I honestly dont care if the body is beat up a bit. I just want it to run strong and be 4x4. Finding a 4x4 seems like it may be the hard part, not very many out there.

man it's always best to find the deal you want on a car where ever. plenty of bronco's in the denver/colorado springs area. that's about 11 hours away and makes for a nice drive.......unless you go over on 70 which takes you through flat kansas
