2012 GT500 Rumors
I have heard on multiple websites that there are rumors from "reliable" sources that the 2012 GT500 will possibly have Manley H-beam Rods and the TVS will be STANDARD!
Wouldnt that be something!!

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
I've heard both that rumor and also heard some that since they are ditching the Eaton, they could be going the Twin Turbo route (following the SHO's success).
Heard that on the GT500 forum I lurk....

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
Twins would be cool....but I dont see ford/SVT leaving the infamous supercharger whine behind. Its like a trademark with the SVT team. The 03/04 cobra, lightning, and now Shelby.
Just wouldnt sound right....ya know? The TVS is currently being tested at ford on GT500 mules....so I am assuming thats what its for. I hope anyways. Would bring the price down for me to pick one up!!

Yea I remember you saying that today... Could always be cool to see both...
... different models, not necessarily fueling each other...

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
Really I haven't heard or read much, but seeing justin at vmp is starting to sell tvs blowers for 3500 bucks, I had a feeling something may be up. Like a mass inflow of tvs blowers causing the price to go down.

I hope the price comes down even more! Although 3500 is pretty cheap already

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
I'd love to see them build another "bullet proof" motor like was in the terminator cars. Interesting about the TVS price and the rumor of the '12 model.

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
If anyone is interested, here is the link to an individual claiming to have a tip from someone "in the know" that the TVS will be in the 2012.
All still have been just rumors, but I would be curious to get confirmation.
http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php/168393-2012-Cobra-Jet-quot-released-quot-at-PRI.....
I sent a PM to Obiefox asking what information he has. Hopefully this isnt just propaganda.

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
Ive seen the PDF....the order form came out towards the end of November. More than likely there are no changes in the blower, but there are a few still that say that its a possibility.

Is the TVS better then the Eaton? If so, then why?

The TVS is an Eaton, but a bigger and more efficient one. Its a factory fit to...no cutting, not additions, very easy to install, very reliable and produces some monsterous numbers. The low end torque is greater than most other options out there as well. Leonard in the club has one on his GT500 and is pushing Well over 600 Rwhp.
Here is a great article you should read:
http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/m5lp_0906_gt500_supercharger_tests/index.html
"The new Twin Vortices Series is a solid step up from the Gen 5 M122 supercharger factory installed on the GT500's 5.4. Compared to the more traditional M122 Roots supercharger, the new TVS offers a greater lobe count (four versus three), increased rotor twist (160 degrees versus 60 degrees), and revised inlet and discharge architecture, to say nothing of the increase in displacement (2.1 versus 2.3 liters). These revisions have greatly improved not only the ultimate power and boost potential of the Roots blower, but the all-important average power production."
"What do these improvements mean for a GT500 owner (and other Mustang applications as well)? Replacing the standard M122 supercharger on your GT500 with the more efficient TVS can be worth as much as 100 extra horsepower. Since the stock blower will already deliver 550 rwhp with bolt-ons and tuning (up from roughly 440 rwhp in stock trim), the TVS looks pretty enticing, and it's no wonder Shelby Automobiles chose to offer the TVS as on of the blower upgrades for its Super Snake program."

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
Do note that the TVS is a roots type blower, thus its not going to be as efficient as a twin screw. A Roots blower moves air and blows it in the motor. The Twin Screw superchargers (Whipple, Kenne Bell, etc) Actually compress the air as it forces it into the motor. So the TC's will run a little cooler charge and provide for Higher boost due to most being a bigger displacement. 2.8Ls and up as apposed to the TVS's 2.3L of displacment.
Justin at VMP has his TVS combo above 700rwhp and the average Joe should see over 600 rwhp from the TVS with the 2.59 pulley.....this is more than I need and fits me perfectly. 600+rwhp on the street is rediculous :) Cant imagine trying to get 700+rwhp to the ground....

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
Meh - the GT500 is quickly becoming just a "Me too!!" car. I'll stick with my Mineral Grey GT, and thus remain unique amongst the masses.

Meh, Ronald McDonald is unique. The giant red shoes, clown face, and yellow outfit really doesn't make him cool though. Just sayin. Lol

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
The only new feature for the 2012 GT500 is a new Recaro seat option. Other than that I heard they'd be offering fewer colors and low production.

You can get to 600 rwhp on the stock eaton, good tune with the right bolt ons is no problem, port the stock blower and you will easily surpass the 625 mark

Re: 2012 GT500 Rumors
That is the direction I'm headed with mine. I plan on trying to wring all I can from the stock blower. If I change blowers down the road I'll most likely do a better built lower end to really maximize the gains of massive boost upgrades.
