The Wait is over!

The wait is over.

As some of you more observent members may have realized, I have a new avatar and signature. The rumors are true. I am the new owner of a 2007 Shelby GT500. It is Performance White with "me too" Blue stripes. The car was picked up last night from a dealer in Arkansas. It has 1496 miles and smells showroom new. I will post pics when I can. (need to wash her up and get rid of 300 miles worth of bug guts first).

For those on the fence as I was contemplating the choice to either buy a new '11 model GT with the 5.0 or a pre owned 07-09 GT500, let me be the first to tell you that you want the latter. I've driven both and while the new 5.0 is an awesome car in every imaginable way, the GT500 is also awesome with the potential there to be even more with minimal upgrades. To make the power that I wanted to make the GT500 offered more in terms of ease of upgrade and the cost associated with getting there. My goal will be to put down over 600 at the tires reliably and repeatedly. To do this with the 5.0 it would have meant the installation of a supercharger system and would have required a substantial amount of cash to do so. The Shelby already has one and it is upgradeable. This was the major influence in my decision. Well, that and once you hear that supercharger whine you just really lose all interest in anything else.

I'm gunning for the 2011 GT500.... It will be a few months. It will take that long to talk myself into to car payments. Hopefully I can find one that is gently used. ;)

Congrats Dave! I hope this doesn't mean you'll be getting rid of the Tracer though? That car is begging for upgrades also.

i remember the day i got my first ride in a lightning WOW! i couldnt believe the blower. it was the most awesome thing i had ever heard or felt. been hooked every since. i was on the fence to when i got my car between it and 427r i just had to go with the 5.4! there is soooo much potential in that motor. you will love it. let me know if ya got any questions i might have an answer to

Sorry about the late pics. I'll try to get some posted tomorrow. I've been fighting computer issues the last couple days. Kids decided to download somthing with a nice virus attached. I think I've got it pretty well fixed now. I've been posting the last few days from my iPhone.
