Re: Road Rally this Saturday
ok, you intrigued me.............how long is it? ho wmany miles? where does it finish? whats the winner get? etc etc etc.........
Magic answer
I'm almost as clueless as you are on this Rally - All I know is that it will be stagged at Fudruckers - The road coarse is in the south Tulsa Sapulpa and route 66 area - overall length is about 75 miles - Estimated time to complete should be about two hours - $15 Donation to enter - looser ( whoever finishes dead last ) gets a rusted out Chevy. ( LOL )

Re: Road Rally this Saturday
Let us know how this goes. Sounds like a different event. I like the idea! It could be something we throw on the calendar for next year.

Re: Road Rally this Saturday
Only 9 ppl showed up which kinda sucked, and they let everyone out of the gate at the same time so until a few of us started speeding a little we were just following each other, but if we did it, and had a staggered start, like 5 minutes a car i think we'd have a blast. At the checkpoints the driver has to get out and answer questions, mine were 1) what size/brand is your LR tire, 2) tag number 3) drivers license number, 4) odometer within 100 miles. It was alot of fun, wish we had more cars.
Re: Road Rally this Saturday
Sounds like fun. Definitely like that instead of a poker run.
Jimmy... so did they just ask you questions? Or were there any events?

Re: Road Rally this Saturday
Basically (and i saved the sheet) it gives you hints you have to look for on where to turn and what stret to take and inbetween your turns it asks questions, like one was "Where would Winston live?" then you pas some new houses in "Churchill Estates" so the answer is churchill estates. Another was in jenks and it was "Whats been here since 1966" and little bitty on the bottom of a BBQ sign was "In business since 1966" a harder one was Clint..... and we passed "Eastwood Shopping Center" You have to have a navigator to look for signs, write answers, and keep track of your turns cause if you get lost you have to go to your last checkpoint and start again. Everyone got lost once, even me. We did it in just over 2 hours 90 miles, last car took 3 1/2 hours, 115 miles. WAY better than any poker run ive ever done. And jumping out at checkpoints is a blast too, answer a few "?'s" and go again.
Re: Road Rally this Saturday
I like that! It's kinda a version of BullRun. I think they just didn't advertise it well enough. I only heard when it was posted on here. I'd like to do it and then get all the local car clubs involved. Could be a good fund raiser for the club if marketed properly.

Re: Road Rally this Saturday
oh yeah, $20 a car, you really invest nothing because everyone's driving the whole time, couple of checkpoints set up. invite all the clubs and 25 cars is a cool 500. The only thing i think they did wrong (even though it wasnt a timed race and you get no bonus for finishing first) was they needed to stagger start the cars about 5-10 mins apart or its just follow the leader until people take off, but you could start somewhere early and end somewhere to eat lunch, and since its alot of twisties country driving your starter tent people and your checkpoint people could pack up once the last rallier comes through and hit the highway to wherever you finish so everyone can be together.
