Re: Road trip.
I'm back. i think i sent a few pics to Jarrod.
Well as soon as i got into Memphis, my check engine light came on and i lost some power to my engine. I knew something was up because on take of, the car jerked on me then took off ok. I drove into a Ford dealership about 10 miles down the road and hooked up my scanner. came up with a code of P0303 i think. I let the service guys work on it and the warranty took care of it. had coil #2 and #8 go bad. $423 for the coil, 2 plugs and labor. on the road in 2 hours top.
i have 2 tickets. I guess Alabama thought my car was to loud for them. i have to show up to court for reckless driving. dude its just loud on take off. then he said i ran a red light. i was in the intersection when it just turn yellow. all he saw was a loud yellow car. i bet he didn't even realized i was coming off the highway. that's what he probably heard me down shift to a stop. i wasn't speeding, he did not clock me or told me how fast i was going. just said i was loud and racing. i didn't even get to 30 mph and trucks were passing me. Boy but that cop was huge. he yelled at me and said that he will take my car from me and make me walk home to New Jersey. i was scared. officer was as big as a fridge.
I saw one of my ex girlfriends and just hung out with here the entire weekend. i didn't even get blue balls. not even close. at lease we had some good talking and fixed some mistakes i made in the past with her. we cool now.
About 800 miles and 12 hours of driving. i'm tired. going to bed now.

Re: Road trip.
Hector. You might find a lawyer down there to fight it for you. The reckless driving could be a terrible thing to have. Most companys insurance wont insure a driver with that. I just had that problem with my company. One of my drivers had this and we had to drop him from our policy and tell him he could come back if he gets it taken care of but he drove one of our trucks. If you dont have a job like that then i would not worry about it.

Re: Road trip.
Maybe you should have told the cop you were Puerto Rican or something.....
Yeah, I got a reckless driving ticket once in Mannford in about 1980 for taking a corner too fast. I was in a Triumph sports car and the corner might have been too fast for a Lincoln, but for the Triumph, no sweat. Since the ticket was cheap, I went ahead and paid it. All was well and good until I tried to insure the car a few months later. You would have thought that I impregnated the Insurance Co CEO's daughter! Supposedly the only thing worse than a reckless driving ticket is DUI and using a vehicle when committing a felony. I had to sell the car and couldn't afford to drive a sports car for over 3 years.
Sucked....

Re: Road trip.
Yeah, you don't want a reckless driving citation on your record. In most jurisdictions in Oklahoma, any citation for speeding over 25 mph over the posted limit is considered reckless driving, also. (Meaning that simply based on that fact, the cop can write you for reckless instead of speeding.) It's worth a call to the city or county prosecutor in whatever jurisdiction you got cited to see if it can be at least dropped to a speeding violation.

Re: Road trip.
Hector, You do NOT want Wreckless driving on your record. They are right on the above statements. Wreckless driving is just as bad as a DUI and will make your insurence skyrocket. You need to get it reduced or its not going to be fun for you for the next few years. It stays on your record. The Insurence company found the wreckless driving ticket on my guy and it had been 3 years sense the citation and they said he must be dropped from the policy and not aloud even near our vehicle. All he did is roll a stop sign at 2am in the morning in claremore. He said that he just did not come to a compete stop but almost and the guy was just being a jerk. He didnt know that the wreckless driving was that bad until he had to take care of it. Good luck

Re: Road trip.
I think if you give them a call they can work something out with you since you are out of town, probably have to have an attorney show up on your behalf.

Re: Road trip.
i need to look over the tickets better. its very hard to read his writing. and i need to recheck the court date. i think it falls on a Sunday. ??? 4-12-09. i look at it when i'm more calm down. I will be putting my cats back on for now and when i do go back i really want them to hear my car. i might even make a video of the car to prove how loud it is and its not even going fast.
