Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
Soon as I get over the cost of the TT&L ( Tags ) - I plan to have true dual exhaust put under it with used GT "take-off" mufflers - Other than that It will remain about stock other than a CAI of some type - I've heard that once the exhaust is changed and the CAI installed , that it would be wise to have the air/fuel ratio recalibrated - That said , Who is the cheapest around Tulsa that will do it right ?
Any ideas how much HP improvement this will give ?

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
Try shopping around these two sites... Brenspeed, and Bamachips are probably the 2 best tuner companys in the US, and they also have tuner/CAI kits, and i think you get a free tune for every product you buy from them, example: if you buy an exhaust system with no Cats', but you need a tune to turn off your check engine light for your 02 sensors, they will send it to you with the product more than likely through email, then you can plug your tuner into your computer, and download it onto your tuner. PS, the bottom link is American muscle's website, only because Bamachips sells most of their stuff on there.

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
Robert, I have two take off mufflers from an 09 GT500 that only had like 3K miles on them if you would want them.

Man... Maybe I should buy one for the sable and David could buy the other for the tracer.... Hmmm. That would ROCK!

CAI and Warrantee
One of the tech's at Joe Cooper told me that if I install a CAI on the car - The MAF sensor will no longer be covered and since the aftermarket filters do not clean the air as well as a factory filter - It could also void the warrantee should anything happen to the engine - Assuming the failure could be linked to excesive dirt getting into the engine - So, I guess it would be wise to save my stock air box and swap it back out before taking in to the dealer - These guys don't want you to touch anything - Especially the ECU programing.

no tried that.it was a joke.
I did the plug in tuner, i think its the same thing the other guys get from brenspeed, just i ordered mine from SCT i was inpressed with it.
Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
I had the exhaust system installed with the GT mufflers - No H pipe on cross over -Sounds nice an it seems like the motor winds up faster an pulls better above 2000 rpm - Anway I ordered a nice CAI for it today which leads me up to my question - IS a TUNE absolutely required or will it run fine without it ? - Money is tight ,spending several hundred bucks for a tuner is a serious expense right now - Is there a speed shop somewhere around town that can check and adjust the air /fuel ratio and not charge me an arm an leg ?

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
You do not need a tune yet, it would be nice to have one, but not needed. You shouldnt worry about your air/fuel ratio at the moment.

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
I was only worried about the Air /Fuel ratio AFTER I get the CAI system installed on it - I want to stay with 87 octane ,so I am hoping the base tune will work Ok for awhile - Then maybe get a speed shop to adjust it later just to get everything working at it's best.
I do not plan any other mods other than the exhaust and CAI - I'm as green as a pool table on these new cars - But,the performance and technology is just plain amazing.

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
I may still be wrong, but I don't see any reason at all to change your A/F with just an intake and even exhaust...

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
Depending what CAI you get you you have to chage your AF / Tune.

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
I bought a polished aluminum system that replaces the rubber tube - has a heat shield that mounts in place of the old air box and has a cone style filter simular to a K&N that sticks into the pocket behind the head lamp and a bout 4" into the fender area.

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
Hmmmm... Not familiar with that one... JLT and C&L require a tune.
Normally as a rule of thumb, if it doesn't require a tune it really isn't worth it/ not really flowing more air than stock. :(

air box
I have a friend that took a car almost exactly like mine out to the track - He removed his filter and ran about .06 faster with the stock air box - I don't think that would work very well on the street - ( LOL ) I guess I will find out later this week when the kit arrives - If nothing else it will look good when the hoods up ( LOL )
I did find a very simular kit on the K&N web site , they rated there kit at 7 hp at 4950 rpm - That said I doubt it would require a tune - But, I still plan to get it checked someplace - I figure that with the dual exhaust and the CAI kit ,plus a good TUNE - The total package will be worth about a 15-25 Hp increase.

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
Very nice! When you're ready. Let me know. I'll hook you up with a tuner. Provided you bought a SCT tuner (required).

Re: Just a few thoughts on V6 Mods
Ok, apparently Im lost... didnt think you could change A/F without a tuner? and I have never heard of having to get a tune with a cold air kit, other than the "tuneable versions" that I have now seen for the newer mustangs. I wouldnt think they could sell you a product that you had to get extra stuff done for, I mean its just letting it breathe better.
I have put intakes on many cars, trucks, suv's and never heard the manufacturer tell you to get the A/F changed, so sorry I was misinforming you. Guess the newer mustangs are just different

CAI install this evening
I recieved my CAI by UPS today - Took less than an hour to put it on - My Butt-Dyno tells me it's working real nice - Between the dual exhaust and the CAI it sounds like something out out of NASCAR - Definatly made a nice improvement - No lights yet either.
