Parents hug your kids.
Hey guys there was an accident on Sunday in my neigborhood that cost a 14yr old boy his life. He was trying to cross hwy 169 between 76th and 86th St N on foot and was hit by three cars. I have three boys two close to Jesse's age and he lived two houses away. The point I am trying to make is talk them about playing safe and not trying stupid things that they see on YouTube it only takes a second to make a permenent error. The other thing is what about doing a fundraiser cruise for the dad he just lost his wife 18mos ago and he and the boy were trying to go on without her, he is an over the road truck driver and could probably use some finacel help in this time. Any ideas???

I just saw that on the news in the last night or two - very sad. Great idea for the club to do something to help out the dad.

Re: Parents hug your kids.
That would be fine with me I will try to get ahold of Marty @ wal-mart and see if they would donate something like food or pop. We could challenge people to get people to donate based on the number of cars that attend ie: (I will donate .25 a car and then we get like 100 cars for example that would turn into a $25 donation) my gears are turning right now I just don't think my place is big enough for what I have in mind.

Re: Parents hug your kids.
Maybe one of the fast food places would let us use their lot if it was big enough. Kind of like Burgers Street use to do for the tuesday car show. We can set up a small raffle like they normally do and give away a couple of hats or something. I have a brand new "Nextel Cup Series Chase for the Nextel Cup 2006" hat still in the bag I could donate to the raffle. I bet someone would let us use their lot because it would give them tons of business for one evening.

I have seen Banks get involved and set up funds for people. Is there a mom and pop bank left in Owasso that might be able to help out. That way the bank keeps track of the funds and all we need to do is give them the money. Has anything been set up yet??

I don't know whether Jesse was into cars but he and his friends always gave me a thumbs up when I went by. I am working on some details about this cruise in thing.

Re: Parents hug your kids.
My soon to be step daughter had the boy in her 2nd hour class at school. She said its been pretty tough for the kids at the school. Her mother and I had a talk with her last night about it. Worst type of funeral to attend is that of a child. Period.
I bet we could get with the sonic over there in owasso off 86th they have a big parking lot close by that could accomidate plenty of cars. Lets get this together. George let us know what you want to do and well make it happen.

Honestly I think we will all be in here. I'm sure we can make this huge if we want to. I'm sure we can get other car clubs and the harley guys to come along too. Guts church, Bob Hurley just to name a couple that im sure would get involved with getting people to come out and participate.

Re: Parents hug your kids.
Yeah, its not a matter of if we're in or not, just tell us when and where.
My thoughts. I do not think this needs to be an immediate thing. Everybody copes with this type situation differently. Im not sure but if we put something together a month or two months from now I think that would be just as good. Right now he probably, (I'm guessing, I don't know), has support from family and close friends. In 6 months or so that tends to go away. I think thats when the supported is needed, because it really starts to set in that they are truly gone. This would be a good way to say gone, but not forgotten. I don't know the guy, but can bet that the next couple of months are not going to any fun at all.
We need to somehow raise some awareness out of this as well. Seems there have been a lot of people killed lately( within the last year) by trying to cross a busy highway.

Re: Parents hug your kids.
If we do things the way I'm thinking we can I'd say we would have the media attention needed to add the awareness you are speaking of.

Re: Parents hug your kids.
I am with David, if we want the media and peoples support to get the awareness up we need to do it soon. Its really sad how quick people forget or dont care about things any longer.
