5,000 mile checkup
It's time for me to service my car. I noted that some of you work at these dealerships and that BH Ford is a sponsor. Question:
Is there someplace that would be better to take my car to?
How long does it take?
Do I need to schedule an appointment?
I am closest to the dealership on S Memorial, but would be willing to take it someplace else if deemed worthwhile.

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
Blair,
I opted not to do the checkup as I think I know my car better than those techs hehe....
But with a machine like yours it might be worthwhile. Schedule a checkup with Benji (Master tech) at Bob Hurley Ford. Hes the one that installed most of the clubs rearend gears and does a great job.
Zach Gellette is one of the service managers at Bob Hurley and is a member of this club. You might call him at Hurley and see when Benji is available to do the check up.
Im sure most dealerships will do a great job....but its up to you. Anything goes wrong at Hurley I know Im always taken care of. My piece of mind

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
I work at Bill Knight on 97th Memorial, I don't mind doing it for ya. What I did on mine is oil change and cross rotated the front and rear tires. Let me know if you want to set something up. Be prepared to spend around $100, I think the oil is like 8 bucks a quart and you need like 7 quarts.

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
hey jarrod,
how much does benji charge you all to do the gear swap or are you doing it at the dealers cost. either way what's the charge up your way and is that with you bringing the parts?

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
OK David, it's a deal. How about Friday afternoon? I want the 5,000 mile checkup, oil change and all fluids check. Can't rotate the tires as they are different sizes.

thanks andrew, do you know if this is a same day service. just wondering since i'd be very limited on my time there. 200 bucks is a crazy deal for labor.

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
Bob he does this after hours and is Same day. I think mine took him just an hour and a half. I was up there about 5:30pm and out by 7pm
You can just call Benji and he can work with your schedule, but again he does this after hours at the dealership.
$200 is very cheap.

David,
As I also have a Supercharged mustang, I was curious as to what ford recommends as far as changing the oil in the supercharger. Does it ever need to be changed? If so what kind of mileage do they reccomend, I have heard different from a number of people on this subject.

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
Just drain the oil....Its dirty in there...drain it and clean it up and leave out the oil. My 2 cents hehe

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
Thats why I asked a professional and not an amateur. How would you know anyway, you don't even have a supercharger?

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
Blair I say you let me run the oil out of her!!! I think 24 hours at 165 MPH would do it......Please??

Re: 5,000 mile checkup
Jerry just drain your supercharger...and dont put any oil back in it. Oil just robs HP....your rotors will be fine...trust me.

Bring it by as long as the weather is good. You can cross rotate the tires though, not front to
back but side to side. Thats what I did on mine, the are not directional tires so that is what ford recommends. It keeps the tires from chopping/feathering on the inside if you do this. What we do on ford gt's also that come in here. Just ask for me when you come in.

Honestly, I have never looked into this. But like any other fluid we change, it wouldn't hurt to it every 30000 to 60000 miles.

It didn't take long for me to get bored, my old cobra had around 500rwhp but alot less weight, so gong to the gt500 felt slower. But, with the stage 2, much better now, almost need to step up again since I am getting use to it now. :)
