Traction Control is a Joke

As most of you have probably found out in the last 48 hours as I have that traction control is a Joke on the ice. If mine is on I cannot drive the car once it stops on the ice. If I turn it off I can use the clutch and throttle to find just the right amount of wheel spin to make my car go. A tip for everyone if anyone cares. Go to Orielly, Napa, Advance or one of those and buy two or three bags of Floor Dry. It comes in 25lb bags and they are clean white plastic bags. Throw them in the trunk for extra weight. They are also great for when you do get stuck. Just break one open and dump it in front of your tires and make your car a little trail to drive to safety on. Its great stuff and its pretty cheap. I paid like $7 a bag last night at Napa on mingo. On my stone tires it didnt make much difference but every bit helps and its easily removeable weight when it warms back up.

Yes, traction control on ice is a joke. On dry pavement, it keeps me out of the ditch when I give 'er 2/3 throttle in 2nd.....

Blair, are you driving the Shelby in this weather?

My traction control works great. It's a swtich that says 4x4. Haven't had any issues.

Yea my F150 I use to drive was horrible in the snow. I had several sets of heads a few torque converters and anything else I could find to add weight sitting in the bed of the truck and it still wouldnt go up hill in the winter. But it was a lot better than the mustang.. I mean WOW.. this thing is horrible on the snow. I have drove mustangs in the winter before and they were not near as bad.. But they also had rubber tires instead of plastic tires. This thing is like those big plastic cars you had as a kid with the plastic tires that if you slid them in the kitchen they wouldnt go strait.. lol.. Thats my rear tires..

Mine works great to sitting in the garrage. Dont worry Jarrod,Casy will let you but a big boy truck in about the tenth year of marrage.

My car hasnt moved since Monday. Its sitting in the driveway. I am driving Cassies Jeep Liberty 4X4 till the ice subsides in the neighborhood.

Its really kind of fun if not being able to stop when coming up on a major street with traffic is fun to you. I find it gets the blood pumping. Oh and you figure out real quick that you dont want to park in a parking space to where you will have to back out up hill. That doesnt work well. lol..

No, I have finally parked it. The wife either has to stay home during the day or take me to work. I wish to hell she would get herself a new car so I can drive hers and save the Shelby for nice days. Her car makes for a great daily driver.

The wifes Edge sucks in this stuff. It does great in traction and getting around. No problem!

But the fun factor sucks since it has stability control. You can't induce a slide without is correcting it. No fun... :(

the new mustang is going to have that system as well.

Actaully, in the Edge I don't mind. It's safe.

I don't want it in the mustang though.
