What headers are you boys using?
What's up guys? Roomate is buying headers soon and just trying to get some input. What do you guys like so far? Any goods or bads, let us know.
Update in his ride also....dyno'd and made 396 rwhp and 387.
As of now looks like he will be going with jba long tubes h pipe and the jlt carbon intake. He is also going to try the steeda tune they are going to possibly send along with the listed above if he decides to go with that. Should make some really decent numbers here really soon!

Re: What headers are you boys using?
Oh lord No! That cat is a joke.... No he plans in ordering from somewhere.. He didn't say. Because of the amount of items he's getting they were going to throw them in. It's just an email tune. Not the big of a deal really. He can use it if he wants to I guess but why not try it? Unless it's horrible or something. He's a Bama member I think.

Re: What headers are you boys using?
They are a "steeda" dealer, they even call Ford Racing Whipple superchargers "Steeda superchargers" apparently. Steeda tunes, steeda control arms, steeda, steeda, steeda

Re: What headers are you boys using?
Lol..ok ':-) None of my friends have ever shopped there, and probably never will. I've seen some of there work. The "carbon fiber" look painting is funny I used to paint that on my Rc bodies when I raced I could do it in my sleep and they charge crazy crazy prices for it. Not to mention the guy is a complete ass hat. Lol

Re: What headers are you boys using?
Installed the headers on tylers 5.0 yesterday! The install went pretty well and the results were well worth it! He went with the 1 7/ longtubes headers from jba and h pipe to the Borla type-s. Tried out the steeds tune and it was ok. Seems to hunt for idle though. I called them and had them add a little more fuel to the bottom end to see if that stops the issue. We also put in for another bama tune. Just got it in the mail so well c what's up and I'll post the results along with dyno number.
He went with the 1 7/8ths for a vortech...':-)

Re: What headers are you boys using?
nothing wrong with steeda parts, but definitely something wrong with car dfx.
i also would highly recommend ARH or Kooks if you are wanting one of the high end companies. if you're on a budget mac or pypes are great for the price.

Re: What headers are you boys using?
Already installed the jba headers.... They were ordered from stage 3 motorsports, came with the jlt carbon fiber intake jba long tubes and h pipe.. Sounds amazing! They sent the new steeda tune. It will be instalddrd layer tonight and we will let you know. Prob going with the bama tune though. He's on the free tunes for life program.

Re: What headers are you boys using?
I would definitely get a tune made specifically for your car over the canned tune. If he is already running a custom tune (even mail order) the Steeda won't do anything for him.
Re: What headers are you boys using?
Lol.... There is no cam tune... Steeda does offer custom tunes...

Let us know how the new tune works. Curious to see if it corrects the issue.

Can, not cam... If they sent you a tune that works for the mods you bought, it may not be the best considering your other mods. Best to go with someone like Bama or a dyno tune so it's made specifically for your car, not just pulled off the shelf of past tunes.
Re: What headers are you boys using?
I wouldn't even change the tune with mods like that unless there was a lean issue.

Re: What headers are you boys using?
Really? I do kinda think they push tunes pretty hard on a "bolt" motor. ( use bolt on loosely) lol
But says they are mandatory because the "newer" products will cause lean conditions with the ecu they are using now..??

Re: What headers are you boys using?
It might run a little lean but you can adjust with a programmer. I guess I'm just saying that I wouldn't buy a tune.

Re: What headers are you boys using?
i ran mine with CAI, LT's and no cats without a tune. ran like crap. too lean. get a tune.
Re: What headers are you boys using?
Yea seriously doubt he would run without one, like I said I think the ecu's in the newer mustang is suuuuper sensitive to changes I.e Airflow! It's crazy how much they breath and the power gains seem pretty substantial. The car made 397whp and almost 400ft lbs with just the 97 race tune, and ate a vetts lunch on the highway with the jlt. I think he I'd going to ditch the steeda tune that was sent in his package and continue using his Bama account.

Lol.. Actually it's getting the Vortec, trying to talk him into the edelbrock sc setup. It so nice looking and I think You can still use the stock strut tower brace.

Re: What headers are you boys using?
Im a big fan of positive displacement blowers over the centrifugal. Instant boost, power, and torque! Centrifugal blowers are great for the drag strip, but positive displacement is a clear winner on the street IMO
