HP Touchpad Fire sale
Not sure if you guys have been up on the news but HP announced they are getting out of the tablet and cell phone business. This announcement coincident with a fire sale of their newly released (just a few weeks ago) HP touchpad. This touchpad is the closest competitor to the IPAD on the market and they have decided to bow out. The touchpad runs WebOS and seems to be a pretty darn good web browser tablet but lacks in the APP department. For those that dont care about a million apps or Itunes account, this is a great alternative at an insane price.
HP had their price point for the 16g touchpad at $399 and the 32g at $499. The past 2 days they have been on sale for $99 (16g) and $149(32g). Over 500,000 units sold in just 2 days. They are sold out everywhere! Pretty crazy. I managed to pick up one for myself and a friend and I believe a few members on this forum picked up a couple.
HP touchpad commercials with Russell brand (Funny :))

Twitter has not gotten involved in trying to save WebOS and it looks to be drawing some attention.

Great video that shows some of WebOS's features.....this guy should have been making commercials for HP! Its AWESOME! This video or commercial was developed by a guy who supports and loves WebOS
Sources are already talking about a Project that has already started to port Android to the touchpad. "Touchpad would make an amazing Android Tablet" was a quote from the interwebs. I have never used Android so I dont know. I kinda like the WebOS.

Sure the IPAD is pretty awesome, but for $700 I couldnt justify spending the money on it. This pricepoint on the touchpad was just too good to pass up.
Tips for those that were lucky enough to get the HP touchpad at a rediculous price. Follow these steps to immediately improve the performance of your touchpad
1) setup palm profile and device
2) update to webos 3.0.2

Re: HP Touchpad Fire sale
I got a 32g for the wife. HP ran third or worst behind Apple and Samsung and Asus in most reviews. I've play with both the iPad and Galaxy. Both are real nice units.
Still for the price you just can't beat the HP. I looked this AM and the amazon one is back up to $495. Glad I got mine last night. Thanks Jarrod.

No problem! Hope Trace enjoys her new toy! From the reviews ive seen, the new HP touchpad is going to be an awesome and useful addition around the house. Surfs the web with ease, plays adobe flash, and has access to HULU.... which is perfect.

True... Yep HTML5... Same can be said JavaScript and CSS.
But Jobs never wanted Flash. IHO it's a substandard product. Plus all Adobe products are 100% proprietary. Meaning Jobs couldn't "tweak it" at will.
Not sure how quick Flash will go buhbye though. MS said Silverlight was gonna run Adobe out of town 3-4 years ago. Still waiting for that to happen.

True....but go ahead and try to watch http://www.crackle.com/ on the Ipad, wont work unfortunately.
And the touchpad does both flash and html5 which again is a plus
We all know the Ipad is the more popular tablet, but for $149 the Touchpad has plenty of power, features and usability.

Very true. You can beat that price point for that kind of usability. And the touchpad does both flash and html5 which again is a plus
