Joplin Tornadoes hit close to home. Member needs help!
As most of you know the City of Joplin MO was hit by several tornadoes yesterday that effectively flattened most of the city. One of our members (Niki73) daughter and family has lost everything in the storm. I would like to ask our members to help get this family on the road to recovery. I will provide a list of necessary items if anyone would Luke to donate either items of need or cash.
I know I can count on our members to step up and help make a difference in at least one family's life after the storm.
I will post a list of needs shortly.
Thanks in advance!

Im in...
I go through Joplin about every week and frequently stop at a liquor store that is right in front of the walmart that was leveled. I drive down that road each time I go through, I cant even imagine how bad it is right now. Like Jerry said, its like 71st and mingo basically. I will be coming through Joplin tomorrow early am and back wednesday afternoon

Here is a link to a guys Flickr photo account with all the joplin tornado photos.
Had a friend and his wife here at work that were in the IHOP next to the Home Depot that was leveled. They were in the freezer and luckily the Ihop wasnt completely destroyed.

Just incredible. I would not be surprised at all if this was an F5. When determining the rating, one of the things they look for is if the bark was striped from the trees. I saw a lot of pictures where that was the case....

Re: Joplin Tornadoes hit close to home. Member needs help!
I think it qualifies as an EF5
"Incredible damage.
Strong framed, well built houses leveled off foundations and swept away; steel-reinforced concrete structures are critically damaged; tall buildings collapse or have severe structural deformations."

In this photo, there is a green business sign and part of a building in the right bottom corner.... That is a store called Macadoodles, stop there almost every time I come home. THere was a wendys in front of it and the Academy sports is next to it. Cant believe its gone...

This one is chilling. The video is dark but the sound is unbelievable and more than enough. There is actually a pause and they think it's over... but it's not. I'm assuming this is the eye of the tornado. To have an actual pause/eye, means this sucker was massive.

Yes. They have nothing but the clothes they were wearing. Anything helps. Also I'd like to get some cash together who's with me? Every penny helps. I'm sure everyone can spare at least $10?

I'm in to help for sure! How are we donating $$? Paypal has a gift option that doesn't charge a fee. Also, where can we drop items?

Also, let me know if you guys need a hand taking anything up there, we can load up the back of my jeep Cherokee.

Re: Joplin Tornadoes hit close to home. Member needs help!
They are staying with mom right now. The apt was completely destroyed so household items like food and such aren't needed just yet. But clothing and such etc. Cash may be easiest.
Let's set the goal at $500.
Let's get it done

Re: Joplin Tornadoes hit close to home. Member needs help!
so close to home. our sister facility was leveled there and most of our employees lost everything. the wife and i go to red lobster there once a month and from most reports, the tornado tore right through rangeline and 7th just down from the restaurant. my heart goes out to those folks, especially after the wife and i lost everything we owned back in 2007.
Re: Joplin Tornadoes hit close to home. Member needs help!
Mens size 33 or 34x30, and lg shirts size 11 shoes
Womens size 5-7 shorts or jeans and medium shirts not sure on shoes yet
Baby clothes from 3-6 months
Anything you can think of like basic essentials such as makeup for girls shaving stuff hair dryers curling irons razors and the like. Maybe some suitcases to put things in or storage totes. Things to make you feel human again.
Thank you to those who have donated cash also! Let's keep it going we need to reach our goal of $500 by the weekend so the family can go get a few items!! We are almost half way there and it's just Monday. If we all throw $10 in the hat we will have the money no sweat but we have to work together. Let's help make a difference.

I'll be home in the morning so feel free to drop stuff off at Jerry's house. I'll donate some cash and raid Jerry's closet for cloths that don't fit him anymore. Oh... I'll check mines too. I'm close to that size in pants.
