Gt cams?
Alright so I've not purchased any performance mods that are on my car so I don't really know how much this stuff costs. Anyways read ARMORINEs post bout his cams. Got me wondering what kinda increase would I see on a N/A Gt? And besides the cost of the cams, what's a re-tune gonna cost? Also could I get em installed on a tech day or are they pretty hard?

Re: Gt cams?
Cost about 7-800 and up with a tune. Really more than a tech day install. But it is possible to do it. Greg or Hector could help you out I'm sure. And you could see gains up to 30 rwhp or so.

Re: Gt cams?
you can see higher gains then 30 but it really depends on what kind of cams you put in. if you go with something like comps SPR series you can see 40 plus. but the SPR's are a MAJOR pain to install as you have to put in new springs and phase limiters. and the higher SPR cams REQUIRE ported heads.
on a side note SPR stage 2(127500) or 3s (127600) with a good set of ported heads could see 400 rwhp quite easily...the issue is your into supercharger money at that point.
cams are a great way to gain horsepower BUT they just dont match up to the power offered by superchargers.
PS you know you have a problem when you've memorized comp's cam part numbers.....

Re: Gt cams?
if you want decent gains & the killer "cammed" sound then get comp cams thumper. they offer a couple: one for stock springs/phasers & one for stock springs, but requires phase limiters. neither would require new gears or torque converter.

on the other hand if you have gears already & want the best for future mods then go with some spr cams. they of course will need gears, springs, phase limiters, & tune.

i have to say i wouldn't trade my spr's for anything & they give me a very nice sound on top of more flow than the thumpers
