NOS?
hey guys,
I have a buddy thats about to do the normal set up on his 05. (4.10s CAI Tune headers pro chambers bla bla bla... he is thinking about running a 100 shot on it. Does anyone here have this kind of set up with 100 shot on? If so can you do this with just a normal tune or should it get dyno tuned? and what kind of times where you getting out of it?
any help would be great. later
Dave

Re: NOS?
Doc had a nitrous express kit I think. Lots of gremlins. You should ask him about the trouble he had.

Re: NOS?
you can do a 100 shot, i would get a tune, they need to pulll some timing from it. i never got a good run with it. i have the nitrous express kit, my nitrous solenoid wasnt working and had to replace the magnet in it.
i am now going with a super charger, so i wont be using my kit until i get my engine internals upgraded in the next couple of years

Re: NOS?
From everything I've read, you can use the wet systems with a 75-shot without needing additional tuning. Anything above that, and they highly suggest a tune - and mainly for, as Doc said, pulling timing.

Amen to the tune and don't forget colder spark plugs always help.

Indeed. For the money if it works right you can't go wrong. Just resist the urge to over do it.

Re: NOS?
I would still suggest a tune even if your only going with a 75 shot. I would rather pay for a dynotune than a new motor

Re: NOS?
as i found out at kurtis' , my stock fuel pump wasnt keeping up and i needed a new setup. not having enough fuel around when you are injecting nitrous in your engine is very bad! so getting it tuned on the dyno while on nitrous is a good idea. it is definately a kick in the butt dyno when it starts spraying

Re: NOS?
anyone got any time slips on the bottle? Figered 75-100 shot would push 3v's into the 11's.

Re: NOS?
I would think a 100shot should push the car into the high 11 range. Thats if the traction is there, the nitrous sprays, and you dont miss a shift :)

Re: NOS?
i would agree with jarrod, you should be able to run high 11's with a 100 shot

Re: NOS?
Only way a 100 shot will see someone into the 11's is if they're set up suspension-wise for drag-racing, and it has some super-sticky tires.
A 100-shot generally equates to about 80 rwhp/100rwtq above baseline. Call it 400/400 rwhp/rwtq with the intake/exhaust work above what his car's probably making N/A. It'll take drag-set-up suspension and way-sticky tires to see 11's, in my opinion.

Re: NOS?
If I was to put a 100 shot on my car I could run well into the 11s. Best to date is 12.61 @ 109 with my current setup. 100 shot should get me to the 11's I would think. I'm not planning on it but I think it is possible.

Sorry jeremy I will have to agree with David on this...I finished out the year running right around 12.7 @ 107.3. If I had a 100 shot of nitrous Im pretty sure an 11 sec timeslip would be in my hand without a doubt.

Re: NOS?
well hope some of you guys can make it. My brother and I are looking to split some MT/DR and we have to put the stander stuff on his. CAI, tune, headers... bla bla bla. Maybe we can shut a few of them up.
I'll get you guys some more info as I find out. Have a good one.

Re: NOS?
I put my name out there over on Dead Horse to be included if a list of potential participants ever gets created. I think we could do some real damage. Unless you have a push rod with SC or NOS your in trouble against a NA 3 Valve. Even with the SC or NOS you might be in bad shape if you can't drive well.
