whats the deal?
Am I the only one that's noticed 99% of fords publicity for the 2011 mustang is on the 6er? Yeah its got 300 hp and 30 mpg but really? Its a mustang not a honda civic. When was the last time u decided to get a mustang because its practical and got good gas mileage? Why arnt they talking about the 5.0 coming back. If it weren't for a few mustang publications I'd bet most people wouldn't know any thing about it. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places or maybe its just the sad world we live in where a 6er with 300hp is more exciting than the return of the 5.0 to the mustang

Re: whats the deal?
i agree with ya, but hasnt Ford's marketing always been based around the 6'er man? its something that anybody can afford, yet its still a mustang.

Re: whats the deal?
My theory is that they are keeping it on the down low so that Obama won't notice and try to regulate, ban, tax, or take it over....

A lot of Fords profits come from the 6er. They market it for money so they can make a badass like the 5.0. People who are for performance and mustangs will know all about the 5.0. You don't have to advertise as much when your product kicks ass. It makes a reputation for itself.

I figure this way; If your a true Mustang fan then you've already kept up with, and know everything about the 5.0, but if your the general population who could care less, and are on a tight budget and wanting a sports car then 300hp @ 30mpg is going to sound pretty good. Those who know their getting a 5.0 are already well informed, they have to draw in the "i dont care" group who just want a fuel efficient toy. Oh and on that note were looking at 6.1L Challengers today to replace the Pontiac. We were going to do the new 2011 Mustang but man, that Challenger is f'ing sweet.
Re: whats the deal?
Yes it's a very controlled test and in no way represents real world driving... but still pretty damm impressive.
