2010 Shelby Mid America Meet

Yup already looking at sign up sheets and scheduling days off for this event.

Would someone like to help a "noob" in preparing for this event and how to sign up for this stuff.
website isnt exactly the most helpful on being informative.

The class is an actual class where they go out and teach you about racing. The other is to just go out and race your car out at hallet with others. George could probably give you a class and teach you just as much if not even more.

I think so. I had a blast last year doing it. I already have it on my work calendar for time off. Taking wednesday - sunday off.

Work has me scheduled to take a safety class sometime at the end of June. Just cant figure out when.

Sounds high to me, we could do Hallett another time cheaper.

Your head will still feel like a bobble head even with a tight helmet if you are driving right. Or if your riding with George, lol. :)

I have a medium SA 2005 helmet, if I come, we could share mine.

Sweet! I'll be going twice a month up there with George, getting some practice time in.

i would rather ride with george than drive myself. you really get the full "oh my god im going to die" effect. its a blast.

oh and btw, if you have a 98 model IHRA standard helmet, TRP will not allow them anymore since they have gone to NHRA. i talked to someone the other day. they say tech inspection will be more thorough, but idk.

i looked at some Helmets.....good gosh!

i dont wanna pay over $500 bucks for a dang helmet.

And really what kinda clothes do i needs to wear?

Jeans and a long sleeve shirt is what they allowed last year at Hallett. But with it being so hot they went to short sleeve. But you might want to check with George, to be 100% sure. Helmet (oh god) I would also talk to George about that.

ok i honestly dont know what is going on or what the big joke is, but im not really finding it funny or amusing.

I created this thread in this section for reason so i can find out more about what i need for hallet, if this is going to turn into some Saloon shit than im done.

Preferably, you should need a SA 2005 helmet, long sleeve cotton shirt and pants, and wear socks with shoes that have shoe laces. The drivers side mat must be removed from the car. Anything loose in the car must be removed (sunglasses, pikepasses, garage door openers etc.) You have to have a decent amount of tread on your tires and high temp brake fluid (even though they really don't check for this).

If you enter the novice race for Hallett, there is no passing allowed. If you feel confident enough to move up to intermediate, then you can pass on designated straights. Unless you have done it before, I would stick with the novice class. Not because of anyone's abilty or lack thereof, but in the intermediate class there are some yahoos that have no clue as to what they are doing and can really mess you up.

Relax Amanda... What was wrong with Mikey's answer? It's correct. The shelby event uses the same rules as the High Speed touring event. All you need to know: http://www.hallettracing.net/ click on the High Speed Touring link...

As far as the helmet... you'll just need to shop one that meets both the required rating and your price range.
