Have you gotten to the point where you you can feel where the clutch engages yet?

Re: Cruise To Clicks Feb 27
There is a breakover point you should be able to feel. Not so much on a stock clutch, they are so much softer than my race clutch. But it is there.

Well if you smell a rotten egg stinch, you know your burning the clutch.
You'll know when the clutch engages, its something you can hear and feel. Look at your RPMS, If your trying to ease off the clutch to quickly you'll notice your RPM drop closer to 0.
Something i recommend you not do. Dont have the clutch all the way in and give it gas at the same time.
Wait till the clutch engages and than give it gas
If your clutch is between the floor board and where it engages and your giving it gas...but your not moving, your burning the clutch up and will smell a rotten egg smell....dont do that.
If you can feel that the car is about to move forward a bit, keep easing off the clutch slowly, dont immediately let off the clutch once it starts to go forward or you'll make the car jerky or kill it.

And DO NOT ride the clutch pedal, remove your foot from it after every shift. Quick way to burn one up as well.

Re: Cruise To Clicks Feb 27
Oh well I am not doing any of that. I have yet to smell anything like rotten eggs. My problem is letting off the clutch to soon and being very jerky or killing it and ummm shifting from 5th down to 2nd instead of 4th OOPS! :) Oh and I accidentally took off in 3rd yesterday and couldnt figure out what the problem was haha. Other then that I am doing good. I just need to pay more attention.

If i remember right when you put the shifter in Neutral it automatically goes to the middle in between 3rd and 4th gear
1st- all the way left and up
2nd - straight down
3rd - go to middle in neutral and up
4th - straight down
5th - all the way right and up
I can teach ya some hand movements that can make it easier for shifting.
Oh one thing, if your in 5th gear and going 75 mph and say you wanna shift down to 4th but you accidentally go to 2nd, its going to much harder to go into 2nd gear at the speed your doing.

Re: Cruise To Clicks Feb 27
awww I didnt look over you! I took everyones advice into consideration...the only thing that made me a yes was the deal I got on the car. I wasnt going to find it anywhere else. The guy just practically swapped metal out in hopes of being able to make money off of a Pontiac but its like good luck on that.

Re: Cruise To Clicks Feb 27
my wife had a hard time learning the gt500 at first they have a really touchy clutch. best thing i advised was to not drop the clutch out just because its starting to bite keep easing the rest of the way out till fully engaged and your rollin

Trust me Jess.... a month or so and you won't even think about driving a stick. It just comes natural. Then you step into an auto and your like WTF wheres the clutch... it happens to me all the time.

Looks like the weather will be good. I should be good. Hopefully I can get my clutch cable installed this week.

Don't feel bad, I've got to put a whole new transmission and clutch in mine this week! And I'm still planning on going.
