Haiti fund drive. - Please read and donate!
All:
By now I'm sure all you have heard about the absolutely devastating
earthquake that has hit the small island nation of Haiti just off
America's coast. All one needs to do is turn on FoxNews, CNN, etc. to
see how truly devastated that country has become. Seeing the horrific
pictures on TV is simply heart wrenching. They are estimating tens of
thousands may have perished and many more injured and needing medical
treatment. Haiti is the poorest nation in the western hemisphere and
what little those people had prior to the quake, is now gone. So the
need has now multiplied many times over.
I'm putting a call out to our great members to help! You guys always
come through in big ways and I'm asking you to do so again. Right now,
what they need is cash to purchase medical supplies, food and even gas
to run the generators. I'm sure later on we can have a
clothes/supplies drive.. But for now I'm sending up a fund for and
asking cash donations.
How to give: You can
either give the donations to one of the club's board members or you may
PayPal it to: boldmovestulsa@gmail.com (please note "Haiti" in the
comments). Of course 100% percent of your donations will go to help
the people of Haiti. Give what ever you feel comfortable with. $5 or
$5000...it's all needed and is greatly appreciated!
I'm going to contact GUTS Church tomorrow to see what we can do. As
some of you already know via the "Tough than Hell" event, they have a
huge presence in Haiti already. (In fact Pastor Bill's parents and
other members of the Church are there now) I will also contact the Red
Cross and other well known organizations. We will find a place where
it will be maximized.
Whether you can give or not, I do ask all of you to send a prayer to the people of Haiti.
God Bless all of you and thank you in advance. You guys are great!

Thoughts and prayers go out to Haiti and it's people. No one deserves to deal with a disaster like that alone. Count me in for a donation.

Re: Haiti fund drive. - Please read and donate!
on a side note. If you plan to donate outside of the club, please be cautious. It is easy to set up a website anymore and make it look legit. Scammers are scum and will take advantage of the situation and take advantage of people just for their own benefit. Please be sure to research your charity and make sure that it is valid. Red Cross, your local church, what ever it may be outside of that please be cautious.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Haiti fund drive. - Please read and donate!
Hey, we had some "miscommunication" with Paul and i thought i should elaborate.........We lost about $5500.00 in false credit card charges on the Katrina thing when the wife donated to an OVER THE PHONE relief fund so I have a suggestion......RED CROSS.......they take money, goods, and blood and make sure they get where they are needed. Dont get screwed like we did, it really soured us on the whole helping thing, plus I know weve had at least 10 fradulant emails on collections so far.
Just be careful
GO RED GROSS

Ya. You can add to our fund or a fund of your choice. It's not a contest. Already had some awesome donations! BTW Thanks guys and gals!
As long as the money is appropriated correctly and gets to the people. That's what matters.

FYI, Rotary District 6110 Medical Supply Network Inc is taking donations for water boxes. Each water box costs $150 and holds enough water purification supplies to purify 5,072 16 oz water bottles.

I'm up for what ever.
Right now... I was going to donate 1/2 to the red cross and then buy bottled water and other goods for GUTS church. They are filling containers with supplies that will be sent directly to Haiti. I'll do this early Tues.
So... it's not too late to donate! We currently have $560.

And - don't forget this quick and easy way to donate $10 direct to the American Red Cross's Haiti Disaster Relief Fund - just text the word "Haiti" to 90999. Estimates are that around $200,00.00 per hour are pouring in to the Red Cross via this method alone! https://american.redcross.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=ntld_nolnav_text2help

Re: Haiti fund drive. - Please read and donate!
Went shopping today and dropped off all the food and supplies.
Did real good... Nothing fancy and everything said "Great Value" on it but we absolutely stuffed the cart!
100 Lbs of Rice
40 Lbs of Beans
Bunches of Granola bars, Peanut butter and trailmix
Medical supplies including gauze, pain relievers, cotton, tape, Rubbing Alcohol, vitamins, etc etc etc....
Tooth brushes and paste
5 cases of water
10 gallons of cooking oil.
4 cases of ramen noodles
Even 2 giant bags of candy for the kiddos.
And we still have about $150 left over for a cash donation.
Thanks everyone! They wanted me to pass along their sincere thanks to everyone.
