light your pipes boys!
so i have been thinking about getting longtubes and an uncatted xpipe or h pipe(if i go wiht the 3 inch system it will have to be an h pipe) the point here is to make it loud proud and cruel to those around me :)
oh and maybe kick the hp way up by losing a lot of back pressure, granted i will suffer a small (some might say minut) loss of low end torque.
so i lay the question before you what woudl give me the best performance and best sound? h? or x?

Re: light your pipes boys!
i have longtubes and pypes violator mufflers. the loudest axle back is the SLP loudmouth. you will have a much louder sound with just an off road x or h and a good axle back. the long tubes make it a little deeper.

Re: light your pipes boys!
if you want loud, get rid of the cats, that really opens the sound up. an off road x would do alot. i had the pypes off road x prior to the longtubes and it sounded good. with the loudmouths it would be very loud. i had that setup on my 05 gt conv and i had to change to the pypes because it was too loud!
power wise i dont think the longtubes do much, now when i spray i think they help some. i get a full 100 hp increase with a 100 shot

Re: light your pipes boys!
Jared what mods do you currently have on your car? For the money I think the OBX long tubes are a great choice. But like Doc said the O/R H pipe with the violators are crazy loud. Every cop in a three mile radius will hear you coming.

Re: light your pipes boys!
hehe Im with the boys...you might start out by just adding an OFF-Road H or X and see if you like the sound with the Loudmouths...its rediculously loud hehe. Now the longtubes with and O/R X and Loudmouths would borderline a jet

Re: light your pipes boys!
carfx quoted me 1500 to purchase and install jba longtubes and an off road uncatted h-pipe going into straight tips. would be tremendously loud im sure close to the gt500 that they have(its londtubes going into a 3 inch x offroad xpipe with no mufflers)

Re: light your pipes boys!
Save yourself some money and search for the best deal on what you want then have the club install them for you. Car FX dosen't have the best rep. for cost effectiveness. The club does Tech days just for such items to help save money for everyone. This goes for anything including but not limited to body items and performance items and everthing inbetween.

Re: light your pipes boys!
I am inclined to agree with David. I installed headers on my '05 GT I had and it was not too bad. It just takes a while. I have air tools and a compressor. It certainly helps to have the right tools. Anyone in the club is welcome to use them. Besides I think you would have a pretty good warranty on the work! If there was a leak or something did not fit right I am sure we would just have another tech day. I hope I am not speaking out of turn, David.

Not at all Lance, You speak the gospel. Good sound advice. We have all the tools in the club necessary to change a motor if needed. Again please save your money and buy more mods with the savings!

Have you priced them at www.brenspeed.com ? They have sound bytes you can listen to to get an idea of what each different one is like.

Re: light your pipes boys!
if you are thinking about motor mounts do them at the same time. also buy the stage 8 locking header bolts. some of the stock bolts wont fit after the long tubes go on. on the mustang source there are a couple of writeups on a header install. i read them before i did mine. you can do it on jackstands in the garage
you can use your axle back loudmouths. i bought the obx headers off one of the other members. they fit great. they are half the price of jba. i would be glad to meet you somewhere and you can hear my setup before you purchase anything. stay away from car fx! we can do anything that they can.

Re: light your pipes boys!
I would take Doc up on his offer to let you hear his setup. I think you will like it if you like loud. And as he said the OBX headers are about half the price of others. I think they are JBA knockoffs if I remember correctly.
Havent heard any complaints from Doc yet about them. But like he said if your wanting more aggressive motormounts buy them..you have to unbolt your stockers anyways to lift the motor to allow for the install. No worries..the motor only needs to be lifted a few inches. No biggie.
Doc...you have a camera..record your exhaust and post it hehe...do it in the garage and let her rip!!
