What a crap game to watch that was..

First off, How do Pac 10 officials get to do this game? And are they aware that clipping, late hits on the QB and holding are all fouls?

But I can deal with missed calls, that happens in every game but when the state of the surface determines the outcome of the game its not even fun to watch. Kendall Hunter is a Little back that makes his living off Barry Sandersish cuts and quick direction changes. He was all but negated by the slippery surface and the other team seems to be ok with it since they have a HUGE 230lb strait light runner in their pocket.. But the heartbreaker of it all is when Dez goes down with a busted knee from sliding on the new sod. It just sucks that the outcome of the game was determined by the surface. And before OU fans pile on and say I am whining your damn right I am. If we were playing on an artificial surface or even one that had not had 3 games in 7 days already played on it we would have won that game. We were dominating until Dez went down and then after enough late hits on Zack he started looking pretty beat up as well. He toughed it out and still played but he wasnt the same near the end. He was used up.

But we have most of this team back next year and I think they can be great next year. It just sucks and if it were your team with the same crap playing surface you would be pissed too. And yes i know both teams had to play on it but both teams didnt get a star player hurt due to it.

Watched the game with agony....Kendall was non exhistant...Dez hurt himself....Robinson started to see stars late in the game. Oregon isnt that good...but in the end we lost. Gundy better get an offensive and deffensive coordinator and damn good ones!

Yeah that game really sucked. How many times can you hold going down the side line before you realize that it is not great running but everyone being held.

And how do you miss a late hit on the quarterback when there is one ref out there and that is his only job is to protect the quarterback. OSU has turned the corner in my opinion they just need to keep improving.

I am just afraid that the Big12 is going to come out of this bowl season with egg on our face. Missouri won but it took overtime for them to do it. We lost last night and shouldnt have. One or two more games like that and everyone is going to be saying "See, the Big12 wasnt that good". And then we just confirm what all of these east and west coasters think and that is that we are just beating up on ourselves and that we dont play any real competition. We know its not true but if we cannot prove it in our bowl games its just talk and crap like last night doesnt help us.

Yeah, when Dez went down, I was thinking uh-oh. OSU is good, but not deep enough in some places to loose good players. Same can be said of OU on defense. I won't even comment on Pac-10 officials. And don't you just love the Big-12 having to go play in everyone else's back yard?

well, the fact that OSU couldnt tackle worth a damn almost gave me a stroke. they let the oregon QB run right thru the secondary. on several occasions, he steam-rolled the DB's and kept going!

He was a pretty stocky guy though. I agree we had some missed tackels but there was a whole lot of holding every tme he went to run. A couple of holding calls might have changed the way they were running. Our defense is a work in progress though. We are better than last year and they will hopefully be better next year too. We need to get a defensive coordinator since we lost ours. I think we will be fine. I just hope whatever bowl we are in next year has a better prepared surface.

Post by MrClark 1/1/2009, 2:32 pm

they score may not have totally showed it but OSU dominated the first half.... but when your star RB can't get anything going and your star WR comes up lame as well as your star QB getting his bell rung... it was hard to keep oregon defense guessing.... what I did not get was when robinson is clearly hurt (holding his back after every play) and over throwing wide open receivers by 10 yards (on at least 4 passes) why not take him out for a series and let him get right again.... I was afraid of long term effects here (IE: Nate Hyble OU 2001-2002) when he took that shot and then stayed in.... I'm not syaing take him out for the game... but let him get his head right so he can focus more.... He just wasn't the same after taking that head shot....

all-in-all it lived up to exactly the type of game i expected... oregon rushing and osu passing.... yes the turf sucked... but both teams had to deal with it... robinson showed his toughness and should get more respect next year from the media considering he was kind of ovedrshadowed this year will all the QB's in the big 12... (but I think that helped him)

the big 12 should be fine.... they are 2 -1 as of Noon today with 4 games to go.....
