Lets not push it that far! :) Got to remember, he probably added 80-100rwhp since that 13.8 visit plus the et streets (slicks).

Brackets would negate motors. Its mods vs rods...not drivers vs drivers.
Needs to be organized better but its not the Rods fault that we dont bring faster cars. We need to have a bigger turnout so we can pair up the cars better...thats all.
Brackets would even up the playing field....but again would change the entire event.
Bottom line...we need to recruit some fast ass mods to even the field.

Re: Official E.T. List
I agree with what your saying but the fact is that there just aren't enough cars to match everyone with a suitable opponent. Thus brackets. This is why it's done this way at the mid America event. You won't ever get as many cars as they have? I just think that it would make for much more fun races if the races were actually close. IMO brackets don't take the motor out of the equation. The fast cars still have to catch the slow cars to the end which would make for good entertainment. I believe it's the only way for this event to run smoothly and have a mutually beneficial outcome.

I agree with Jerbear! Bracket racing is boring. Since this was originally suppose to be a street car "new vs old" mustang event. I think it would be a good idea for a 30 mile cruise. Brief cool down and run them three passes back to back. Then talley up the score. Revit will be done for next years event. Chalk me down for a 7.XX
We might not win the majority of the races, but we will be the fastest out there.

Re: Official E.T. List
Yep. As David alluded to above. It would be great to have a true mod vs. rods, however the way it's set up currently, it's just not feasible. Right now only the top fastest cars get the prizes. This year there were a couple of 9 sec runners. The others didn't have a chance no matter how good they ran. What's their incentive? And why would they come back next year knowing damm well they'll not going to win. I know I did.
The ratio of Rods vs. Mods IMO will always be skewed. Rods will always have the fast cars as a whole. Why? Because most Mods are street cars/daily drivers. It's expensive to build a mod motor. Rods are cheaper to build and parts plentiful. Therefore 80% of the fast full race cars will always be a rod car.
I much prefer the heads up style. However, If you want the event to grow, ya gotta make appealing to all. You can still have special awards for the fastest run etc. But IMO a bracket style is the way to go.

Re: Official E.T. List
Yeah the first year I was the 3rd fastest Mod, this year I was the 6th fastest with a 12.15 to an 11.44 rod. not quite a fare match up for me. If we keep it this way, I will keep getting my ass kicked.
The way I see it the problem will take care of itself once the event gets bigger. That just takes time, but we need to run a complete event with a winner one year to promote and give everyone something to shoot for. Overall winner, best mod, best Rod, best R/t, fastest time, etc. etc. We have no winner and time to advertise because we never got that far. Not bitching, just need to get more organized and maybe some more sponsorship as well.

With a change to brackets and some prizes/trophies we can make next year much more fun and organized.

Re: Official E.T. List
You guys are probably right but look at the fastest street car shootouts. They all have big turnouts and I have raced them knowing my car didn't have a chance to win. But I went anyway because I wanted to see how it would stand up to the next guy. You just have to love the sport and want to race and not the payout.
I think brackets will keep the fast cars away. Either one they won't be consistant (takes alot of money to make a fast car really consistant) And the really fast cars that are running the number everytime wont come, unless you have a big payout.
But maybe your not wanting the fast ones there...
If you really want to make this a BIG turn out. We need to get some business involved as sponcers. Get a nice size payout, make it a fun race (30 mile cruise) and RACE!!!

Oh and most important thing (like everyone is saying) got to have a GOOD game plan.

Re: Official E.T. List
The Buick/Ford event is ran heads up and it is a strong event. Most likely due to the fact it has been going on for years and word has gotten around about it. I think the same would hold true for this event. Once word spreads out beyond Tulsa and OKC the car counts will go up. There was a better turnout this year than last year for example and a few new faces from outside of the Oklahoma metros. I do agree that sponsorship is needed to allow this event to grow. Magazine adds and talk forum adds go a long way. I personally haven't heard of any other modular vs. pushrod races going on anywhere. I think its cool to have one getting started in our own backyard!
