Stroke it... Or just blow it??
So what do you guys know about stroker motors?? The past few days I have been debating going with an NA set up and have been looking into adding some displacement to my 302. There are a few short blocks around that are available for a great price. I wil be getting one if those to machine and biuld that way there will be no down time except for the install and if all goes well get the rest of the car ready for the Shelby meet this summer(prob won't get there though)
I first looked into a 347 and read that they have a tendancy to have a little more life expectancy than say a 331 because of the rod ratios. So if I decide to do this I will likely do the 331 as they seem to make more sense being a little more street friendly. It all could be relative though to what cam and things I also decide to use. I have not ever been this deep into a v8 motor the extra four pistons is a big deal... Not to mention liter size.. Lol so any help would be much appreciated.
The other option would be to keep the SC setup which i am in the process of rebiulding and just put another stock bore bottom end it and using and upgraded pistons and rods that would suite higher levels of boost. I think this would be the best option really but just can't decide.
Then there's the 351 option... That's another day though :-)
If you guys have had any experience i would love to hear about it. I've been looking at kits and stage 3 looks to have decent packages along with the summit kits for the stroker hardware.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks in advance.
