Cam Question Empty Cam Question

Post by RaceRedFiveOh 12/30/2011, 1:24 pm

Alright, so theres like a million different cams, NSR VSR SPR.

Now of course NSR is the cheapest since you only buy the cams, and VSR you add spring cost, and SPR adds spring and phaser costs.

Between NSR cams and VSR how much more power is there, and between VSR and SPR how much more power is there?

I mean if an NSR cam gives you 40 hp and a VSR only gives you 45 then that seems like an expensive 5 hp.

I'd look at boost before cams. IMHO

Whrn looking at them before yiu are factoring in the extra lift that then requires the springs. Before doing cams you need to decide if you want to boost down the road or not. The chances of a cam being good both na and boosted are slim.

Not enough gains for the money for cams IMO. unless your strictly going for the sound they make.

Unless you find a set extremely cheap. Definitely not worth it on a 4v. Lol

Cam Question Empty Re: Cam Question

Post by RaceRedFiveOh 1/2/2012, 8:48 pm

I guess since I plan on selling the car after college, a supercharger would be better since I could part it out easier then having to put the stock cams back in...

Whats the cheapest I could prolly find on like a used vortech or something?
What about any used roots/twins?

Just start searching all mustang forums. Pricing will all depend on the owners need to sell.

What 4v?

4V Long Tubes are around $1200. Not worth it for the hp gains. Wasn't referring to his car.
