There are mixed comments on that link. Wouldn't you think their website would say something about it? I just looked and there was nothing.

Well I agree, but most people dont come out and tell people they are selling. They just sell and walk away. I wouldnt tell anyone, who wants to deal with people complaining that there wont be anywhere to race, and blah blah blah. I would take my 3-6 million (supposedly) and never look back

I imagine running the track isn't too expensive. I bet most of the cost is in insurance. That is probably their biggest cost. I can see where they would probably barely break even.

Can't really blame them. Someone offered me 6 million for a couple buildings, little aspalt and some field/scrub brush... I'd probably take it too.

They wouldnt have to offer me much honestly. The insurance alone has to be horrendous. Not enough ricers in town to keep this place open i guess. Still sad to see, maybe they will find a way to keep the track open or someone open a new one. I dont race, but still have a good time going out there a few times a year.

Ya... If you start thinking about where they could build another one, the options get limited. In regards to proximity, there really is no place that jumps out. Do to residential noise restriction, there is not a lot of places to choose from. That place was nice and close. They got away with it, because of they are next to the airport.

It would have to be a place where the land really isn't worth much. Most land close to Tulsa is worth more as development land.

Post by shodown 10/4/2011, 10:59 pm

lol, i read a thread on OKDHM.... everyone was talking about selling their drag cars and tires etc...

Again, we can laugh, bitch and wish they would keep it open. But in the end, millions outweigh years of making thousands. My dad sold some land in Bixby a few years back, he had it for 20+ years and now he has a 190K dollar house for free. They ended up building apartments on the land. Sure they probably made more in the long run, but it takes money to make money and just like my dad, im sure the owner of TRP is seeing $$$$$$$ sings out his ass right now. so I cant blame him

Put it in the arkansas river. Hell its dry 3/4 of the year, you don't even have to built grand stands, just sit along the bank of the river.

Thats too close to Mikes house, he will complain about the noise! lol, J/K but it is too close to homes obviously.

There is plenty of land in Bixby that is "flood plane? plain?" land that could be used.

My realtor is currently representing someone selling the old Broken Arrow Landfill... like 150 acres out at 61st and 215th.

When the ban on building expires in 50 years once the methane settles, I see a definite candidate.

Follow 169N a couple of miles and take your pick of where you want to put it. Let's build a BMMC Raceway Park. Maybe it too will sell for 6 Million later on down the road.

A good grater will make those mounds flat again... it's just dirt covering up 60 years of trash.

We could put one up between Oologah and Bartlesville.

This sucks, same thing happened with Tulsa Speedway, someone buys it, invests and/or pays to much (in the case of the dirt track), realizes their loosing money and closes it down.

Obviously no more drag racing at the Shelby meet unless they do it at thunder valley. Pretty far to go if the show stays here though. I wonder if they have enough land at Hallett to put in a drag strip next to the track that is in place?
