Traction HOLY CRAP!
Wow I had no idea how much less traction I would have in this cool weather. It's like night and day. It's not good!!!

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
It's a twofold problem. Your car has more horsepower in cold weather and you have less grip on your tires. Real noticable difference huh? Wait until you drive in the low 40's.

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
I'm pretty happy with my 315 Michelin PS2's in the rear...good tires... Much better traction than stock. It wasn't exactly a cheap mod to have wheels widened, but well worth it in my honest opinion. The difference is night and day.

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
Yeah I was wondering how much extra traction I would get with 315's...but that would require new rims which are EXPENSIVE...but you got yours widened...do they actually cut then add more metal then smooth, or some stretching process? What did you widen them too...10.5...11.0? I'm interested.
Also do you have matching tires all around. Is it a big "faux pas" not to have matching tires...obviously my stock front ones are good and I'd rather only have to buy 2 tires.

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
I went 11.5. I'm not sure of the entire process they went through....would say they definitely cut and I had them blend the inside of the wheel so it's not noticeable. Then when I received the wheels back I had the inside of them sanded and painted black, so now you really can't tell at all anything was done.

Did you notice a substantial difference in traction? Did you go from 285's?

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
Just be warned, I have 18x11 with mt street drag radials, uh traction wtf is that. When you get above 600rwhp, it better be a really damn good road if you want traction and even then its pretty sketchy.

Leonard did you get that polished blower put on? Or are you still selling your TVS? And yes I've noticed a difference in traction...then again I'm still running with the stock supercharger with a smaller pulley.

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
Piecing together what I have heard, it seems that getting wider rear tires may not be the best thing to do. 285's are fairly wide...maybe if I just switch from the goodyears to something stickier I will have much better hook up. Seems like a lot of people are using Nitto's.

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
Love my Nittos. They are track tires and not DRs, but they stick a whole lot better than the stock tires.

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
Well that's up to you. True width isn't everything. Stickier 285s would be a big help. Also keep in mind I'm having to use aluminum adapters (or spacers) to fit my 315s on without them rubbing that bracket. Will have to do some cutting which I'm not sure I want to go that route...tires only stick out a little...looks much better now my car sits lower.Corepuncher wrote:Piecing together what I have heard, it seems that getting wider rear tires may not be the best thing to do. 285's are fairly wide...maybe if I just switch from the goodyears to something stickier I will have much better hook up. Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
I upgraded my rear suspension and that made all the difference in the world. the car went from being a smoke machine to sticking really well.

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
I essentially did the same thing with Steeda parts. I did not use the camber plates as I just put the lowering springs on the rear and left the front stock. I also have front and rear sway bars for cornering. It all helps either put the HP to the road or help with control if you loose that traction.

Re: Traction HOLY CRAP!
I"m finding some various used parts on forums but not sure they are good brands. Here is what I found so far, can you tell me if they are worth getting or if I should get something else? I"m just not familiar enough with some of these parts to know if they are even upgrades to my SVT package.
