Strut Tower Brace
Anyone have the ford racing strut tower brace? I guess it will add a little bit of rigidity to the car, and looks nice. But I've read on forums that some have problems with clearance, or are uncomfortable with how much it presses into the hood insulation. Anyone with first hand experience with this?

Re: Strut Tower Brace
It does press into the hood insulation on the 07-09 cars and has clearance issues with C&L intake. I had to clearance the underside of the brace to get it to clear. But can be done.

Re: Strut Tower Brace
I just had the Ford Racing handling pack installed on my car and the Ford Racing Strut Brace came with it. Sadly I had clearance issues with it hitting my JLT cold air intake. It's all about compromise I guess. I'd rather have the cold air.

Re: Strut Tower Brace
Struts are the only way to go. I wish Ford would just instal them from the beginning rather than still using that ridiculous prop rod from 4 decades ago

Re: Strut Tower Brace
I too meticulous measurements before drilling the holes, let me tell ya.
But still, if I lift the hood very slowly, right towards the end, I notice the right side stops before the left side does, which ends up going up maybe another 1/4". It's very minor crookedness, but kinda bothers me. I wonder if there might be some sort of adjustment possible without redrilling. Maybe not.

Re: Strut Tower Brace
Not sure. I use the CDC struts on mine that dnot require drilling. I think Paul has the same type as you maybe he has some insight?

Mine are the actual Shelby ones. I've never noticed any crookedness. I'll look though.

Re: Strut Tower Brace
Got a used ford strut tower brace for 130 shipped. Had a couple "marks" on the top from rubbing the hood, but, I figure that is what mine is gonna look like anyway even if I bought it new for 200.
