Garage Customization?
Since this is my first garage, I am not sure what all can be done to add storage, work stations, etc. Just seeing what others have done.
I am unsure how much space I will actually have with both cars in the garage. Need to pull them both in to see what is left over, but I have my rolling tool chest already, and am planning to build a 24x36" work bench to be able to do some work on until I can get the shop built next year.
I have a full-size closet out in the garage to keep any chemicals and storage I don't want seen, but also thinking if adding to the already built shelving that is in the garage.
I am also thinking about painting the walls, and doing the epoxy coating on the floor.
Ideas?

Re: Garage Customization?
air compressor? if so put in some hard lines with an access point on each wall. much better than having to worry about your hose hitting your paint or getting stuck on tires. also with this put a hard line going to the outside and a valve on it to drain the tank and condensation. decide where you want your compressor and enclose it so you aren't listening to it running all the time.
how about some peg board to hang things like your wrenches, hammers, ect.
don't forget to have a fire extinguisher out there. yeah sure maybe you or no one you've known has had a fire start in the garage while working on the car, but still a good idea. mounted on a wall near the door.
lighting. if you work on your car you know very well that lighting usually sucks. put in some nice lights on the ceiling and on the walls. you'll want to have light near your wheel wells and shining into your hood from more than one angle
i've personally been thinking about something like a checker board floor. maybe use the 12x12" tile. maybe there is something that would be better than that for a garage
some retractible air lines and extension cords are great if you can afford the ones that won't break easily
oh and the most important thing. locks on everything so your tools don't up and walk off.

Re: Garage Customization?
Yea chris('s?) I have the fliurescent lighting already. Thinking about adding another though too. Something like that gladiator system would be awesome. Same with pegboard. Guess i just need to get the cars in together and see how much space i have.
Need to adjust my exhaust first though, cause right now i cant get in the driveway without scraping lol.

Re: Garage Customization?
I have been looking out for a good deal on a 32'' LCD/Plasma for the garage! I spend all my time out there anyways, why not?
My advice is STORAGE STORAGE STORAGE, I am quickly running out of room in the garage. Thinking of building a storage shed out back for the lawn care stuff.

Re: Garage Customization?
Jarrod, I used a guy that built an 8x12 for me with double doors. He only charged like $800 and had all the product delivered from Lowe's. I will try and find his contact info if you want.

Re: Garage Customization?
Jarrod...
Yea i am thinking of looking for some cheap flushmount speakers for install. That or just taking my wifes system and putting in the garage. Cd player is jacked, so may just stick it out there for the radio and ipod interface.

Re: Garage Customization?
You just need one floor speaker turned on its side and a receiver, that way you get some bass!
