New Shifter for Shelby
Its made by Drake. They made the Gen 1 shifter, but had some vibration and wasnt the #1 choice of Shelby owners. Looks like they are now introducing a Gen 2 Shifter. More info is below.
https://www.shelbystore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=S7M-7210-C
"Shelby American's GT500 Six Speed second generation shifter replaces the factory GT500 shifter to produce clean, fast and smooth shifting of gears for street and racing applications.
Check out these features and compare us to the competition!
• Unique eccentric adjustable shift stops allow fine tuning without over stressing the transmission.
• High durometer polyurethane bushings for the front and rear mounts prevent unwanted deflection and stabilize hard shifts. Also includes stiffer lever bushings.
• Roller bearing pivot integrated with bronze brushings eliminates friction for an optimum precision feel.
• One piece solid 6061-T6 billet aluminum frame and support arm housing, anodized for corrosion protection
• Spring tension prevents mis-shifts by forcing you into 3rd gear
• High durometer lever bushings to replace the factory soft rubber and tighten up shifting
• Unique adjustable cam shift stops provide a positive stop to prevent over travel in the linkage that causes damage to the transmission under hard usage
• Revised pivot ratio for shorter, faster throws and quicker shifts
• High durometer polyurethane front and rear mount bushings to isolate noise and vibration for precision feel and comfort
• High alloy heat treated and nickel plated pivot lever gives the ultimate in strength and durability which pivots in a custom injected delrin pivot cup. Unlike the competition this prevents wear in the area that sees the most contact and further reduces stick vibration and noise
• Roller bearing lower shaft pivot bushing
• Designed with 2 transmission support bars as the factory intended
Applications:
2007-2012 Shelby GT500. Will not fit 3.7L or 5.0L six speed transmission.
Designed to accept factory lever from 2007-09 GT500 models, and includes a lever for 2010 models to utilize the factory shift knob"

I've been considering adding this piece to my growing pile of parts lol. I believe the first Shelby Shifter was made by Drake and he no longer makes parts for Shelby. They wouldn't tell me who designed this new shifter. Right now I'm working on finishing the lower carbon fiber look for my ride.... Splash guards, rear diffuser and taking the supersnake quarter window scoops off and replacing them with a flat carbon fiber window delete piece.

Re: New Shifter for Shelby
Thanks for info. Glad I didn't rush order this shifter. Looks like MGW is a clear winner over the rest.

Re: New Shifter for Shelby
Anyone here have the MGW? I am really interested in one. Maybe if we all buy at same time, we can get together for an MGW shifter install party lol.

I do. Love it. If was a little stiff at first, but has loosened up nicely. Very nice piece. Happy to help if needed. The install is not too bad at all.

I will be going with the MGW myself. Shifter is not hard at all if you have access to a lift

Or, if you are strong enough to lift the car yourself.
Seriously though, what if we contacted MGW with like a group order...maybe they could get us better pricing?
I'm gonna get the black and silver cobra ball :-) Would this shifter require us to get a new boot?

You reuse the stock boot. I am not ready for a shifter yet, need to purchase tires first.

Re: New Shifter for Shelby
I'm ready to buy this MGW shifter (with black and silver ball) but I"m scared that if I install it, and Ford comes out with a fix for the 1-2 grind and other issues, it will affect it. I don't want to cheat myself ! Do you think they would frown on the shifter...and actually, do you think they would even notice if you use stock boot? Ball would be different, but it might go over some people's heads..

If the MGW youtube video is not enough, this fellow did an EXCELLENT job documenting his own install. Check it out:
