Re: tips
I guess I'd say anything aftermarket would be an upgrade over stock. I like the sound of the flowmasters, but there's so much out there to choose from now. Then if you add an off road mid pipe down the road it will change the tone again. I'd just start looking at Utube files with different combos. Also lots of audio clips on www.brenspeed.com

Re: tips
I like the Roush one too. I checked out a bunch of the audio clips when the brands all had exhaust coming out, and it seems like I remember the Bassani CB and x-pipe combo sounding pretty good. I think the Hushpower clip sounded pretty sweet, but seems like everyone says they drone a lot. Let us know what you decide to go with.

Re: tips
Exhaust for the 5.0s sound totally different from the other motors 2v and 3v. Some setups that sound good on the 05-09...sound like doo doo on the 5.0.
Have to be careful when deciding...cant base it off past experiences

Re: tips
I have stock exhaust up to the axelbacks. I replaced the mufflers with 12" resonators. I love them! You can see my drag race video in the 2011 mustang thread. If you want a vid of mine up close just let me know.

thats very true. im not sayin that JBA's always sound good im just saying their quality is top notch. honestly the best sounding exhaust system i have ever heard for the 5.0 was from a company called stainless works. however that was a youtube video. so it could sound like crap in person

Re: tips
So far I think the exhaust sounds pretty good on my stock 2011 Shelby. Has anyone here ever just left it all stock except remove the cats for air flow? Or maybe that + axle backs? I heard the Roush exhaust sounds awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip4_rqkiB1U
But, at the same time, this is my every day car and I like how quiet it is cruising.

Re: tips
Ya... I agree Ryan. Before this I had a 06 GT that had full exhaust mods. H-Pipe (no cats) and flows. LOUD. I'm kinda digging the lower volume level. The stock exhaust sounds pretty damm good to me.

Re: tips
Ryan if you decide to get rid of the cats, you might either look at high flow cats or if you delete them all together...might look into what I did. I welded in Magnaflow resonators just in front of the axle to keep the sound down...also took away the popping and crackle and made the exhaust not smooth.

Re: tips
What you did sounds great. But I don't have the means to do a lot of these mods, especially ones that require welding and a car lift. Having someone else do things like this will really jack up the costs. The only reason I would want to modify exhaust would be to increase air flow and drop weight for sure. Otherwise, I like my current sound. If anyone has ideas on precisely how to do this (like who/when/where how much) I would be interested.
