Gears FRPP VS. Motive VS. ?
Ok, here we go. Let's all put our knowledge and or lack thereof to use and see if we can eithr prove or debunk the question of the gears. Specifically the rumor that ford racing gears are in some cases made by motive gear and that the latter will whine.
Let's compile information either for or against this idea. Part numbers for both the real FRPP gears and those sold by FRPP but made by motive.

Re: Gears FRPP VS. Motive VS. ?
The argument has been for the longest time that the motive brand gears will whine even if set up properly. While the Ford Racing brand will not. The problem comes from ford racing using motive brand gears in some instances with a change in part numbers. This is what I want to either prove or disprove as well as list the part numbers for both for the 410 and 373 versions.

Re: Gears FRPP VS. Motive VS. ?
i have frpp (non motive) 4.10's w/o any whine. i'd have to go dig out the box to get the part number. pretty sure it was an "A" gear. iirc the motive's had an "M" at the end of the part number

Hmmm on second glance I must have been on another site. They do not list a part number on their site.

Found some part numbers and some suspension mods for you to support the girdle if you decide on it.

Preparing to install gears thread

One common theme
"4.10s if you run a 28" tire. 3.73s if you don't." has to do with RPMs at the end of the track depending on the height of the tire.

Most of us don't have stock exhaust. I'm thinking if the exhaust is loud enough you aren't going to hear the whine any way.

Trust me...you will still hear it.
Could hear mine whine a little in the 07 and I had some stout exhaust. Didnt bother me much as it was a very slight whine on deceleration...but it was there none the less

Re: Gears FRPP VS. Motive VS. ?
I have 4.30's in mine, so I've learned to live with it. No matter what anybody says, no one can set up 4.30's that won't whine at least some. Other than that, I've always boght FRPP gears, and never had any whining issues. My 4.30's are Motive, mainly because I bought the gears that have been lightened.
