tuners?
So I've been looking at a lot of tuners I don't know to much about them I guess only what I have read would it still be good to tune your car with everything still stock on it? And if someone has let's say a sct tuner would it work on someone else's car along as your car or is it just speacilly designed for the computer on knew car

Re: tuners?
An SCT tuner is locked once a tune is uploaded to a car. Manufacturers do this so you cant just keep tuning others rides.
I would not "Tune" your car stock, the money paid would not justify the HP increase.
I would look for a CAI Tune Package from either Bamachips or Brenspeed. Those seem to be the most effective and popular.
I had the JLT II / XCAL 3 / tune package from Bamachips and it ran great. Very nice jump in HP/ TQ and throttle response

Re: tuners?
Which BBK?....I wouldnt just bid on a CAI just to get a CAI. They are not made equally.
I myself would stick to JLT II or C&L. Those are the two that have proven all of the HP/TQ tests.
The reason a CAI works is due to the larger size tubing and mass air. A lot of CAI in the market say "no tune required". Why? Because their tubing... all though smoother than stock...is the same side in diameter as STOCK. No increase in airflow means no tune needed. A lot of people fall for this.
As you allow more air into the motor...a tune adjustment is a must. Do you have a link to the ebay auction?
Id still stick to these packages....tune and Xcal is included

Re: tuners?
Just looked at most of the BBK CAIs on ebay....Stop bidding. They are crap. Read the fine print "No tune Required" If a CAI doesn't require a tune...its crap.
Stick to the CAI kits I posted and you wont be dissapointed.... trust me

Re: tuners?
I agree with Jarrod. The reason a CAI kit that is advertised as "no tune required" is because it doesn't change the size of the mass air meter housing. You want the larger opening to increase air into the motor. I used the C&L racer kit on my 06 with Brenspeed tunes and it went 12.30's at 110 mph on a 91 octane tune. Not saying my results were typical and I did have other mods on the car such as gears, exhaust, udp's, and lightweight driveshaft, but it gives you an idea of the potential. I really liked the look and performance of the C&L with the SCT tuner and brenspeed tunes.
Like Jarrod said I think the two best are the JLT or the C&L racer kit. Either of those with the proper tune will unlock power you can definitely feel from your car. It's a night and day difference.

Re: tuners?
Agreed. When i put my tune on, i felt a good increase, but it wouldnt be justified by a 300 dollar tuner. I got lucky and found mine in perfect condition for 20 bux.
Just be careful not to get suckered in by the schemes on the internet. If its too good to be true, it probably is. The bbk intake you are paying 100 for is the same as the offbrand you would pay 30 bucks for...
When in doubt, give me a ring or post on here and we will give you the low down...

Re: tuners?
I have a 4.0 V6 - I installed a chip that hard wires into the OBD socket - It only cost $89 bucks an it made a very noticable increase in off idle response as well as increasing my mileage by .8 to 1.2 mpg - Check it out on the web under Volo Performance at this link.
